Things have come full circle
for John Baylor, as his daughter,
Antonia ’22, began ninth grade
at Middlesex this fall. His oldest,
Chloe, will enroll at Bates after a
gap year, while Cameron, his seventh
grader, remains at home with
John in Lincoln, NE. During the
summer, Bayles caught up with
Will Ross and Lewis Canfield ’85
on the Cape. He looks forward to
another gathering of the Moab
Men this spring for another mountain
biking trip and also looks forward
to the 35th reunion next year.
Ian Dwyer is shepherding
his three children through college.
During the warm months of the
year, he bikes three or four days
a week to his work at Boston
University, 15 miles away.
Jesse Ho writes that he
enjoyed playing a “leisurely round
of golf ” with his brother Bill ’86,
Paul Harrison, and Ned Herter
’73. “While we all showed signs
of mediocrity, Paul looked ready
for future outings,” Jesse adds. He
is still living in London and would
love to catch up with other alumni
passing through.
At this writing, Ian Kennedy
was packing his bags for trips
to Chicago, Boston, Portland
(Oregon), Austin, and Tokyo. He
was hoping to finally make it out
to the Moab thing in the spring.
A birthday celebration in Concord at the home of Middlesex Trustee
Ricky Albarran ’86 doubled as a mini-reunion. In attendance were, from
left to right: Walt Doyle ’86, Ricky, Mead Welles ’86, and Devin Hill ’85.
Tracy Wood Maeter just
passed her two-year mark back
in the U.S. (Philadelphia) after
17 years in London. Her youngest
is off to Penn in the fall, and so
they are, “officially empty nesters.”
She would love to hear from any
Middlesex alumni in the area.
Class Secretary: Deb Tilton
Thrun, debthrun@verizon.net
Nancy Frost Bland reported in
the summer, “Life is good! My
husband Todd and I are beginning
our 10th year at Milton Academy,
where I work in upper school
admissions, and Todd is the head
of school. Occasionally, Middlesex
grads roll through the admissions
office with their children, and it
is always fun to connect. It’s been
a busy and fun year for our family.
Our son Nick, who lives and
works in Boston, is engaged! It
was a thrill for all of us when he
proposed to Phylly Knight at the
end of last summer, and we are
excited about their wedding in
Seattle on September 1, 2018. My
parents, Mary and Rufus Frost
’58 are making the trip across the
country for the wedding, as are my
brother Jay ’84 and his family. Our
daughter Emily graduated from
Vanderbilt in early May and is now
loving living and working in NYC.
Her twin sister Maggie graduated
from Bowdoin at the end of May
and is headed to Greenwich
Academy in Connecticut to teach
Spanish. All the best to my
classmates and many thanks
to Deb Tilton Thrun for doing
the class notes!”
Rob Martin writes, “Life is
great. Three girls (ages 16, 14, and
11), so as you know the summer
is very, very busy with swimming
and lacrosse. Still at the University
of Louisville, where I lead the Division
of Surgical Oncology and was
recently appointed the vice chair
of research for the Department
of Surgery.”
Elizabeth Mayhew reported,
“All is well in NYC. Tim and I are
both working hard! I continue on
at Draper James and have had the
good fortune of getting to work
with Katherine Brodie ’02, many
years my junior but also a Middlesex
grad—I feel like I work with
a sister! I am also still writing for
the Washington Post and doing
segments for “Today,” plus some
decorating—have to fill my time
now that my kids are grown! We
saw Walt Doyle and Willy Patty
a couple of months ago in NYC,
as Walter’s wife Lee had a gallery
show. Was so much fun and felt
like not a day had passed.”
Holly McGlennon Treat loves
her new life in New Haven, with
summers in Gloucester. Her son
Andrew is headed to Bowdoin in
the fall, and her daughter Amelia
will be a freshman at Hopkins
School. Her work as an educational
consultant is going very well, and,
in fact, it has kept her in touch
with several Middlesex friends and
families, which has been “fantastic
on many levels.”
Class Secretary: Lisa Poett
Kemp, poettkemp@gmail.com
Marcia Kebbon writes, “Class
of ’87, you are now in fresh hands
with Lisa Poett Kemp! Thanks for
all of your class notes over these
many years. As fall approaches and
as great friends of mine have two
kids starting as freshmen, I’m finding
myself nostalgic for Middlesex
and somewhat envious of their
new beginnings. I guess that means
a fall trip to Concord is in the
cards. Can’t wait.”
Bill Meyer has returned from
Sydney, Australia, where he and
his wife visited with their daughter
