“Since the first record, like anybody
with relationships, friendships, life you go
through... No-one will ever understand what
it’s like going from a normal life to the life
that I’ve had unless you do what I do. You
go through an immense amount of ups and
downs. I’ve learned a lot about myself over
the years and about what I want and how I
want things to be for myself. And how I don’t
want them to be.
“I wanna do what I wanna do. I want to
focus on myself. I want to focus on the fact
that I’ve started something and I want to
continue that. I also want to have a calm life
behind closed doors.”
Asked if she’d like to follow in the footsteps
of Florence and The Machine and become a
female Glastonbury headliner, Jess replies
modestly: “I don’t know if I’m big enough. I
would love to. We’ll see if I could cope with
that. I’m not sure. I would never turn that
down. It would be amazing.”
carried away with everything and everyone.
It’s important waking up in the morning and
having your time. Going to bed at night and
having your time.”
That said, Jess admits she still loves to go
out. “I will never deprive myself of a good
time. I don’t think that’s fair. But it’s like as
and when.”
The majority of people Glynne worked with
on her last album, like Jin Jin, Starsmith,
Knox, Steve Mac, Cass Lowe and James
Newman, were recalled for Always In
Between, along with new faces Jae5 and
Bastian. But it’s Glynne’s life lessons over
the past few years that have informed the
album’s songs.
“There was a point when it was so crazy
and I was like, ‘Woah’. You do lose yourself a
little bit. Thankfully I’ve got amazing people
around me who definitely pull me back in.
