Welcome

Irna Cameron-Ellis joined the CEC family for riding lessons
during the month of November 2018. Welcome Irna!
We are saying goodbye to Hidalgo who has been sold on to
further his career with a new rider. We will surely be seeing
him at all the Sanesa Shows and hope his rider enjoys him
as much as we did!
Please note that our monthly newsletter is also available

Jumping
Shows and Other
Events
Our year-end CEC pony camp is happening
from 06-08 December 2018! A Total of 20
riders will be attending the pony camp and
we hope they will enjoy it as much as we
will hosting them.
Invites for our CEC 60’s year-end bring and
braai happening on Saturday 08 December
2018 have been sent out and we look
forward to the function with our clients.
They are forecasting some serious rain for
the weekend so we will be keeping everyone
in the loop with regards to arrangements.
We are planning a Training show at
Countryside Equestrian Centre on Saturday
26 January 2019 in preparation for the
first leg of SANESA taking place during
February 2018. This will give the riders
a chance to give their horses a needed
‘practise’ in a show-environment before the
SANESA season begins again.

Horse-pital
• The next deworming for
all horses and ponies is
scheduled for January 2019.
help resolve the itchiness.
We are seeing good results.
• Madame and Rain were
treated for nasal discharges
by our veterinarian Heinrich
Davies who reported a
lot of similar cases in the
area. The heatwave lately
is apparently the culprit.
• Cherry had biliary fever
during November 2018
and was treated promptly
by our veterinarian
and recovered quickly.
• A lot of horses are currently
being treated for mange and
for some we had to advise
the owners get their horses
allergex tablets in order to

as we will not be able
to properly treat minor
wounds, tick infestations
or mange without the
following: Tick Grease,
Iceman/deep ice/arnica

spray), Wound ointment
(dermavet/agrisulph),
hoof and sole hardener,
Stockholm tar, milking
cream, shampoo treatment
for mange (F10).

Neighs Flash
• The saddle fitter attended
to some of the saddles at
Countryside Equestrian
Centre and had it flocked
during November 2018.
• We have raw, organic
honey available for sale at
the clubhouse of the stables
at R80 per 500g bottle.
• PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
The riding school will
be closed from Monday
10 December – Sunday
06 January 2019. Clients
with their own horses are
most welcome to come
ride and / or visit their
horses during this time
but please keep in mind
that our instructors will be
going on leave. PLEASE
ensure that minors must be
supervised when around
the horses or on horseback,
so parents please don’t just
drop your children off and
leave. Our management
staff will be on standby
but we also want to afford
them the luxury of taking
some ‘relaxation’ time
during the riding school
closure for the holidays.
• New fillers and portable
cross-country jumps have
been made and painted
by Ulrike, Corinne and
Nicolene. A lot of our
brave riders have already
successfully jumped
some of these new fences.
More improvements
to our practise jumps
will be coming soon..!
• Manure is available
for sale at R10 per
bag. Horse manure

that are too active
with unrelated posts.
• Please remember that
there is ALWAYS a
rider on horseback when
entering the main gate which
gives access to the premises
of CEC. Please stick to the
speed limit of 40 km/h and
please be on the lookout for
riders on horseback who
might be riding around on the
farm as well as our famous
‘bokkies’. We appreciate
your consideration.

Please Respect our business
hours as we stop taking
calls and responding to text
/ whattsapp messages from
6:30 pm. In the event of an
emergency after hours eg. a
Sick horse, the owner of said
horse will be contacted in
order to arrange veterinary
or hospital care.

Note To Stabling
& Riding Clients
• PLEASE CLICK HERE to access the fees and yearly planner
for Countryside Equestrian Centre for the year of 2019.
• With Christmas peeking around the next corner; PLEASE don’t forget about
our loyal grooms who always work with the horses. Ideas for Christmas
prezzies are: T-shirts, mealie meal, cold drink, Hamper boxes/tubs, cash etc.
(Please supply your Christmas gift for the grooms to the office CLEARLY
MARKED from who the gift is. (We have 6 grooms and 1 cleaning lady
working for CEC).
• Most riders’ lessons for December have been caught up in advance. The
riders who still have a catch-up lesson to do will be caught up during
January 2019.
• CEC club shirts available at the office @ R450 per shirt.
• Please keep our stable yard clean! There are dustbins set up strategically
at different areas of the stable yard for this purpose. Smokers, also please
remember to throw away cigarette butts as we have some of our old ponies
grazing around the stable yard area and don’t want them to consume these.
• NO rider is allowed to jump fences in the cross country area without an
instructor present and the rider wearing a body protector. Remember guys
that these jumps are SOLID, and should only be attempted under the
watchful eye of one of our instructors. If you want to book a cross country
jumping lesson, come chat to us at the office so we can book you in.

• PLEASE TAKE NOTE: IF PAYMENT WITH REGARDS TO
YOUR STABLING AND / OR RIDING LESSONS ARE NOT PAID
BY THE 3RD DAY OF EACH NEW MONTH – a late payment
penalty of R150 will take effect and be billed with your next invoice.
• If you are unable to make your payment by the 3rd day of the new month
after receiving your invoice, PLEASE contact Melindi @ 084 760 8450
in order to arrange payment procedure BEFORE the 3rd of each new
month.
• Please remember that NO RIDER is allowed on horseback at CEC
WITHOUT wearing a RIDING HELMET! Please guys, this is for your
own safety and most horse-related injuries are head injuries. Always
better to be safe than sorry.
• Riders having Lessons at Countryside Equestrian Centre – Please
remember that we work on a 24 hour notice period for Cancellation of
Lessons. It has happened a few times where riders don’t show up for their
scheduled riding lesson where the horse / pony has been saddled up and
is ready to work. In these events our instructors WILL NOT catch up the
riding lesson missed unless in the event of an EMERGENCY. Our 24 hour
notice period enables the instructor to then book in another student who
might have missed a lesson and thus the instructors’ time is not wasted as
ALL our instructors work on a commission basis with regards to lessons
given.
• Clients: Please remember if you would like to discontinue riding lessons
or stabling at CEC we need to receive one CALENDER months’ notice /
payment in advance.
