reetings from Orosi!
It’s been nearly two
months since our GIT
2018 season came to an end. We
are so proud of our students, and
it truly was amazing to live/work
alongside these young adults
who committed themselves to
learning, growing, and serving
the greater community.
Please keep them all in prayer as
they begin this next phase of
their lives. We are confident that
YHVH has a great plan for each of
them, and are excited that some
of them may join us again next
year! We also appreciate your
continued prayers as we prepare
for next year, and look forward to
more exciting things to share
with you on this journey.

RISE UP!
We have surpassed our goal of $31,000
and raised over $38,695 towards our
"Dorm Rise" student dorm project.
This milestone is significant. Not only will this
allow us to complete our first student dorm,
but it moves us towards building a student
center, classrooms, and more.

building/classroom up to code and
installing a septic system.

SUKKOT
2018
W
e
had a great turnout
this year, and what a
wonderful time it
was! So many people contributed
their time and resources to make
this Feast one of the best we’ve
had. Our students spent much
time prepping the grounds, the
garden, and many other things
behind the scenes. It was great
for our students to see how their
efforts blessed everyone.
Sukkot was unique in another
way! – two precious babies were
born in camp. To start the Feast,
Josh and Mary Brady welcomed
another sweet girl to their family.
Then, Sukkot ended with Nathan
and Marian (our son-in-law and
daughter) welcoming their first
child. What a happy and blessed
ending to Sukkot/GIT 2018! It’s
always bittersweet saying
goodbye to everyone, especially
our GIT students, but our hearts
were full, none the less.

FUN
FIELD TRIPS
Recreational Field Trips:
We’re very blessed to live close
to the beautiful Sierra Nevada
Mountains as well as the Pacific
Ocean to get relief from the
summer heat! Also, Jeff Goodwin
took us on a few boating trips!
Agriculture Field Trips:
We enjoyed visiting a few local
farms to learn other farming
procedures, and had an exciting
time at UC Kearney tending to
our beehives.

COOL CAMPING
To escape the triple-digit heat, we set our sights on a weekend in King’s Canyon National
Park. We hiked the trails, swam in the lake, viewed wildlife, and sang around the campfire.
We also traveled to Hume Lake, Moro Rock, the General Grant tree, Big Baldy, and Buck
Rock. We shared Shabbat together over a campfire, eating off cheap plates, and singing
worship songs late into the night with (kosher) smores cooking over the pit. Some of the
best moments we had were simply sitting on top of one of the mountains, looking over the
valley, and drinking in the peaceful silence. - - Cameron C (GIT Student)

FROM MARKET TO MINISTRY
After working the booth at the farmers market, the next day, we load up the truck with all
the produce that did not sell. Sometimes we have as many as 200 pounds of produce to
donate! We split up our donations amongst 2 ministries. The VISALIA RESCUE MISSION
serves the poor and those in need with love. The OPEN GATE MINISTRY, in Dinuba, works
to assist and support the homeless and hungry of our community with emergency services.
YAH’s Word mentions many times about feeding the poor, and helping the homeless. It is a
rewarding part of my week!

What
Is GIT?
Growing In Torah is a College-Age
program beginning in March, and ending in
the Fall with the Feast of Tabernacles harvest
festival. GIT takes place on a central CA farm.
“Training Students to Bless the Land,
and the People of the Land”
MEET THE STUDENTS
Farm life teaches important life skills, like:
hard work, dedication to detail, patience,
tenacity and humility. We strive to plant these
skills within our young men and women.
The Bible was written to an agricultural
society. Like Yeshua, who used agricultural
analogies in the parables, we use this
agricultural perspective to teach and train our
students both in the physical and spiritual. At
GIT, we are all about getting back to our roots,
and it is a rewarding experience to see this
come to life in our student volunteers as they
get their hands dirty, growing in Torah.
