Swaffham & District Lions
Following a very successful Trolley
Dash, at Swaffham’s Tesco store,
where Pauline Adams won £80
worth of food; Swaffham Lions
were able to hand over a cheque
for £468, from the proceeds, to Swaffham & Litcham
Home Hospice Support.
Swaffham Lions are helping collect food at the
Swaffham Tesco Store for FoodShare over a four
day period. Food collected will be topped up by
Tesco with a 20% monetary donation. FoodShare is
a charity fighting hunger and tackling food waste.
They distribute good food that would otherwise
go to waste to frontline organisations supporting
vulnerable people. Last year, FoodShare provided
over 95663 projects with enough food for 36.7
million meals.
Swaffham Lions were out supporting Children in
Need with their Pudsey who visited the Assembly
Rooms, the Friday
Indoor Market and
Tesco. The generous
people of Swaffham
always support this
worthy cause, with £5
and £10 going into the
collection bucket with
all the coins.
The second event of
Swaffham Lions marking the 100 years since the
end of 1st World War was a sell-out Variety Show
in the Assembly Rooms. The show, compared by
Nigel Wilkins the Town Crier, included the shanty
band Pot of Gold, the ever popular Phoenix singers,
Biddy Vogel with her very talented daughters playing
some wonderful classical music. Swaffham Players,
who had the audience in tears of laughter and the
evening was brought to a close with a sing along
with the Ukulele Band. The evening raised £1432
for Scott’s Little Soldiers, the charity for bereaved
Armed Forces children.
Swaffham Lions held their annual Christmas Party
in Swaffham Assembly Rooms. Over sixty guests
enjoyed a three course meal followed by dancing to
Pam & John. It was a great way to start the Christmas
festivities as Lions embark on their tour of RAF
Marham and the local supermarkets with their Santa
Sleigh.
Swaffham Lions Santa took the opportunity to call
in to the Tesco Children’s Christmas Party, much to
the delight of the young children and the parents.
With over thirty excited children Santa was kept busy
distributing presents.
