bits & bobs required and Alison will
provide the advice, guidance & tools.
Together you will work on your very own
project of choice. You may have already
started a project and have found yourself
a bit stuck or you just need that extra bit
of motivation to finish a pile of UFOs
(Unfinished Objects). Come along and get
the help & advice you need. Please get in touch to discuss your project
in advance. This workshop is for dressmaking projects (clothes) only
but can be for menswear, ladies or children’s wear.

Dressmaking with Alison – AKA BagladyBird
Alison AKA BagladyBird has been with
Oh Sew Sweet for 2 years now and
comes with over 20 years of creative
dressmaking and pattern drafting
experience. A Fashion Graduate of the
Surrey Institute of Art & Design, Alison has specialised in
creating bespoke occasion wear in collaboration with a range of clients. We
always receive excellent feedback about her knowledge and teaching
style…very patient and explains things in very good way!
We have a couple of classes specifically for beginners and then this year we
are going to concentrate on helping you to
Build a Handmade Wardrobe – that’s fit to flatter
Using Sew to Grow patterns that are designed to be mixed and matched to
create your own perfectly fitting handmade wardrobe. Our workshops will
help you to focus your collection and ensure that all your pieces will look
cohesive and mix well together.
Simple Skirt for Beginners

This is a great class with Alison to get you started
on the path to sewing glory…numbers are kept
small for individual attention. On this Beginner’s
class, get sewing machine savvy in a 3-hour class

machine, use of different needles, stitch length and
tension control. Having mastered the set-up, we
move on to the essentials of handling the differential
feed, narrow overlocking and rolled hemming. All in
an hour’s Masterclass with Alison you’ll discover
new ways to sew using stretch and challenging
fabrics.

Blooming Marvellous Cushion with Bev £35.00 Free Patten
Date: Sunday 13th January 10.30 – 4.00
Stitch a 3D flower in a vintage style.
Gathered and folded flower petals are
stitched together to create a delightful
flower which is then stitched to a background and finished off
with a co ordinating button. Bev will show you how to make the
blocks that can then form either a cushion or Bed Runner. Once made these
flowers can be added to anything.

Delightful Dresden this traditional quilting
pattern has been created for embroidery
machines! Dresden Appliques features 9 patterns

Ok you have the all singing all dancing Embroidery
Machine but what else can you do with it? Why not
join Audrey on this 2-day workshop and be shown how to get the most out of
this fabulous design which combines applique and elaborate embroidery.
Day One is loading the embroidery designs and stitching out, then you
complete the blocks at home returning later next month to put the blocks
together. There are many designs on the disc for you to choose from. Day Two
is instruction and complete tuition on how to create this small quilt.

Easy Lattice Beginners Quilt with Bev £40 incs Free Charm Pack
Dates: Sunday 3 rd February 10.30am – 4.00pm
This Beginners Quilt looks complicated but is an easy one for
beginners or intermediates. The quilt uses a charm pack (5″ x 5″ pre -
cut squares), which can also be cut from other fabric too) and crisp,
white sashing, for an effect that looks like a lattice fence, with pops
of bright colour bursting through! Perfect
for a Baby Quilt or Adult Quilt in

Durham Pennies – Hand Sewing with Guest Tutor Helen Barnes £40.00
Dates: Saturday 9 th February 10.00am – 4.00pm
Explore the patterns and motifs used in the
Durham quilts sewn by the girls in the mining
villages in northern England. Using these patterns
drawn out with old pennies you can then design
and quilt a cushion panel to decorate your home.
The workshop is designed to enhance your knowledge of the rich
heritage of quilts designed and quilted in the north of England, learn
about the Weardale chain, feather cable,
lovers knot and rose templates along with
many other designs inspired by nature.
Find out about the people who quilted the
designs and the history of these treasured
quilts. You will develop the skills of
creating a unique Durham design using
traditional templates from a central point
working outwards to draw out your cushion panel. The design will then
be transferred to fabric and be hand quilted in traditional neutral
colours or choose brighter colours to create your own modern textile
art. At the end of the workshop you will have a unique quilted panel
inspired by the Durham quilters which can then be made into a cushion
or framed.
Scrappy Hearts Quilt with Audrey £35
Dates: Sunday 10 th February 10.30am – 4.00pm
Have a Heart just in time for Valentine’s Day and a
wonderful way of expressing your love for someone
special. This 37” x 45” small quilt would be perfect for
a baby or as a wall hanging. Techniques to learn will
include how to sew directly onto your wadding in
stitch and flip. Perfect for beginners and already causing a stir in the shop!

Lolly the Elephant Pouffe with Jane £35 incs Pattern
Dates: Saturday 2 nd March 10.00am – 4.00pm
‘I’m off to the Jungle’ laughs the merry
toddler seated on Lolly the Jumbo’s back.
Any child would be thrilled to possess
such a wonderful toy. Based on a pattern
from the 1960’s passed onto us by Dawn
one of our customers, Lolly is a pouffesized
toy on which a toddler can ride!
Make him out of tweeds or in a beautiful
patchwork style, he is bound to be popular.
Using your Walking Foot in Quilting with Audrey £30
Dates: Sunday 3rd March 10.30am – 4.00pm
Do you want to do more than ‘Stitch in the Ditch’
when it comes to quilting those quilts? Then this is a
class for you bring your walking foot (even feed foot)
and learn to create fancy stitches, cross hatch, curved
lines, and even cables, with no or little marking out. At the end of the session
you will have quilting samples to take home and lots of ideas for the future.
Pretty Daisy Patches Quilt Part 1 with Audrey £35
Dates: Saturday 9 th March 10.00am – 4.00pm
Where traditional meets modern, this workshop
will be over 2 sessions and covers both applique
and piecing. The pretty Daisy Patch quilt
measures 64” x 90” and skills will be joining
strips and blocks then adding the flowers and a
great way to use up those scraps. This is recommended for quilters
with beginning to intermediate piecing and applique experience.

Come and play with Helen,
who is a Textile Artist, and
learn how to use a range of
textile art materials. Takehome
lots of knowledge and samples as well as
your own design. Class includes painting on
fabric and textile art materials, machine
embroidery: drawing with stitch techniques and maybe Incorporate
embellishments and found objects.
Townsville Wool Applique Runner with Audrey £35.00
Dates: Saturday 16 th March 10.00am – 4.00pm
We are super
excited about this
new technique of
Wool Felt Applique
as it’s easy to get
stuck in a rut with your quilting and this offers a new skill to try.
You will learn how to applique wool felt, which is different from
appliqueing cotton. The project is a row of coloured houses, lined by
trees. This small quilt is perfect to use over a doorway or on a table.
Pretty Dresses Applique with Bev £35 inc FREE Pattern
Dates: Sunday 17 th March 10.30- 4.00pm
Easy machine applique blocks using the Pretty
Dresses Pattern. A great way to use up all those
pretty fabrics in your stash oh what fun we just love
this quilt. Lots of pretty fabrics and easy machine
applique. You can even add embellishments, like buttons and lace.

Dates: Saturday 30 th March 10.00- 4.00pm
Another fabulous Toy Making Workshop with Jane,
they are always popular so make sur you get your
name down quick! This pattern from 14 Days a Week
to make an adorable, snuggly mouse and her undies
as shown. Additional patterns are available to make
a wardrobe suitable for a well-dressed mouse for every occasion.
Finished mouse is approximately 19" tall.
Introduction to The Sasher Tool with Bev £15.00 each

Dates: Sunday 31 st March 10.30am – 1.00pm Session 1,
Session 2 is 1.30pm – 4.00pm
As seen on Hochanda TV our Bev will be offering
a class on tips and techniques for the brilliant
Sasher Tool. We are running a ½ Day AM Session on the fantastic
Sasher and how best to use it.

Camden Bags with Jane £35 with Pattern
Dates: Saturday 6 th April 10.00- 4.00pm
A brilliant zigzag stitched bag and another great
pattern by Aunties Two. This bag is sure to be a
winner as no shaping required! Simply made from
a rectangle for the sides and an oval for the
bottom. Can be made using a Jelly roll or a
fabulous digital panel perhaps! In this class you
will make the medium bag but be given the pattern
for the small and large bag to make later too.
Classic Table Runner with Audrey £30.00
Dates: Sunday 7 th April 10.30- 4.00pm
Table runners are always a popular class and
this one is no exception. Using simple piecing
this Checker Border Runner is perfect to grace
any table or dresser top. Perfect for Beginners
or Intermediates.

Lounge Around Pillow with Audrey £35
Dates: Saturday 13 th April 10.00- 4.00pm
This class involves using decorative yo-yos on a
rectangle shaped pillow. Choose contemporary
fabrics for a modern take on traditional hand sewn
yoyo’s and complete the pillows with some simple
machine piecing and quilting.

Faux Chenille Techniques with Guest Tutor Helen Moyes £22.50
Dates: Sunday 14 th April 10.30am – 1pm
A great workshop to those fairly new to using a sewing
machine. Layering, stitching and slashing to produce a
lovely panel. Experiment with different types of fabric,
denim, velvet and sheers.

Dates: Sunday 21 st April 10.30am – 4.00pm

Indian Kantha with Guest Tutor Helen Barnes £45
Dates: Saturday 27 th April 10.00am – 4.00pm
Discover the delights of colour and stitch
using traditional hand stitch from Bengal,
India. Design and create an attractive, unique
sketch book cover while immersing yourself
in the Indian culture. The workshop is
designed to enhance your knowledge of Indian kantha work you will
study patterns and techniques used by the Muslim and Hindu
communities and see how they vary in motifs and the overall
composition of a hanging, bag or mat.
You will develop the skills of using the kantha running stitch to
create texture and pattern. Appliqué skills will be taught which can
be used to add a decorative kantha motif to your book cover. At the
end of the workshop you will have a book cover made from kantha
cloth with an appliquéd Indian motif to use for notes or sketching.
Bitty Bag with Jane £40 inc Quiltsmart Fusible Interfacing
Dates: Sunday 28 th April 10.30am – 4.00pm
The Bitty Bag is a small bag but perfect for your
wool projects, snacks, cosmetics or as an evening
bag. Using Quiltsmart printed fusible interfacing
this simple technique makes the assembly super
easy! Great for 2 ½” strips or charm pack.

It is advisable to bring your own cottons, bobbins, scissors etc. to all classes.
Please check beforehand for a full list of requirement’s per class
Some equipment is available within classes such as rotary
cutters and mats, however there is often not enough to
go around a full class so you will therefore be required to
share.
We like to encourage you to bring your own machine but please ensure it is in
full working order. Our Janome Machines are available to hire, please check
availability before class
