Indian Association of Radiological technologists in collaboration<br />

with RAD-AID International a non-profit public service<br />

organisation from USA organised a four day hands-on “Workshop<br />

on Mammography & DEXA positioning” in the Department of<br />

Radiodiagnosis & Imaging, PGIMER, Chandigarh with Prof. N<br />

Khandelwal as chairperson and Dr S C Bansal as the organising<br />

secretary.<br />

During these four days, 33 Radiographers/Radiological<br />

Technologists from the neighboring states of Punjab, Haryana,<br />

Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Union Territory of Chandigarh apart<br />

from PGIMER, Chandigarh attended this workshop. This workshop<br />

was aimed to train the radiological technologists working in the<br />

field of Radiodiagnosis & Imaging with the latest advances in<br />

mammography and DEXA scanning including advanced techniques<br />

of mammography and DEXA positioning.<br />

They were given hands-on training for the safe operation of the<br />

equipments to produce high quality images with minimum radiation<br />

dose to the patients and staff for yielding accurate diagnosis.<br />

This will help in detecting early cancer of the breast and as well<br />

as osteoporosis in the bones of the patients undergoing these<br />

examinations.<br />

This workshop was held for the first time in the country to take<br />

Delegates along with the RAD-AID faculty.<br />
