advantage of the newly equipped mobile van fitted with<br />
mammography and DEXA scanner donated by RAD-AID<br />
International provided under Asha Jyoti Women’s Health<br />
outreach program for screening of breast cancer and<br />
osteoporosis. In addition to mammography and DEXA<br />
scan there is one digital colposcopy fitted in the van for<br />
cervical cancer screening.<br />
Eminent faculty from PGIMER, RAD-AID and<br />
IART namely Ms Kayiba Medlen, an experienced<br />
mammographer working as a general programs manager<br />
for RAD AID and a consultant with the Pan American<br />
Health Organization (WHO), USA, Ms Lisa Bowles an<br />
expert in mammography and bone densitometry working<br />
as a manager of the Dorothy G. Hoefer Comprehensive<br />
Breast Centre for Sentara Health Care in Virginia, winner<br />
of Bon Secours Dedicated Service Award and Ms Shelly<br />
another expert in the field of mammography is a chief<br />
technologist for Wende Logan-Young, MD a worldrenowned<br />
breast center in Rochester (USA) gave a very<br />
informative hands-on training both on mammography<br />
and DEXA positioning apart from specially designed<br />
power point presentation for hands-on training on the<br />
modern approach to these positioning techniques.<br />
Another Key speaker, Dr RK Chaturvedi, a senior<br />
scientists from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board,<br />
Government of India, Mumbai delivered a lecture on<br />
“Radiological safety and regulatory aspects of diagnostic<br />
radiology practice in India”. From PGIMER senior<br />
faculty in Radiological Technology comprising of Dr<br />
SC Bansal, lecturer & Secretary General of IART,<br />
Mr Ram Singh, Mr LK Gupta delivered lectures on<br />
bone densitometry & DEXA scanning, developments<br />
in mammography equipments and advances in image<br />
receptors in mammography, as well as radiologist<br />
Dr Tulika Singh delivered a lecture on ductography<br />
and stereotactic breast biopsy during this hands-on<br />
workshop as well as providing hands-on training to<br />
the participants. Dr Bansal in his lecture highlighted<br />
the significance of bone densitometry in evaluating<br />
osteoporosis.<br />
After a successful experience of this workshop in the<br />
future more such workshops are in the pipeline to train<br />
the young radiographers.<br />
