ADVERTISING PROMOTION Outstanding care An award-winning care provider is raising the bar on homecare in Devon. William and Sara Flint from Bluebird Care talk to <strong>Devonshire</strong> Magazine about the importance of outstanding care When William and Sara started their Bluebird Care franchises they were determined to provide a care service which was consistently good and to deliver a homecare service that they would be happy for their family and loved ones to receive. William, a former NHS and Social Care Manager, says: “We work alongside families and individuals to tailor our services to help our customers stay in control of their own care for as long as they are able to. Delivering the very best homecare is our passion, and we strive to achieve this every day. “From the first day we opened our business to serve our community, our customers have been at the heart of everything we do. Our teams aim to deliver a homecare service that we would be happy for William Flint our family and loved ones to receive. We aim to support our customers to maintain their independence and lifestyle by providing the highest quality of homecare.” And providing the highest quality care is exactly what they do. Last year Bluebird Care Exmouth, Bluebird Care Exeter, and Bluebird Care East Devon all received an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), putting them in the top one per cent of homecare providers nationally. All three “hubs” provide a very high standard of personal care and support to people with a variety of needs, including physical disabilities, and dementia, in their own homes. They offer personal care to adults in Exeter and East Devon. Sara, who has worked for NHS Devon and has been a care assistant herself, says: “We are so proud to be recognised by the CQC for providing some of the best homecare in the South West. The ‘Outstanding’ services that our teams offer is down to the commitment and hard work of three fantastic teams of staff, who go above and beyond to meet the needs of individuals across Devon.” But despite an ageing population and an increasing need for care services, families often find it difficult to broach the subject of care with loved ones. William explains: “When people start to discuss care for a loved one, they often assume it means they are going into a care home. A lot people want to remain at home and, depending on their care needs, retain some level of independence. Often, the emotional and physical upheaval of moving can be very distressing, so why put loved ones through that? The answer is there’s no need to, especially when homecare is such a fantastic option. “We have completely changed the way that high quality, bespoke care is delivered in Exeter, Exmouth, and East Devon, not only to older people but also to those with specialist care needs and their families. We support people to maintain their chosen lifestyle. We believe that each customer is unique, with their own individual preferences and needs. So, we keep people in control, providing them with the homecare and support they want, where and when they want it.
