Vy waves goodbye
Senior External Communications Officer,
Vy Tran has waved goodbye to SWBH this
month after four years working within our
communications team.
She is a familiar face to many – and
her smile and cheerful personality will
definitely be missed.
Good luck in your new job Vy.
Millicent gets a letter from
the Queen
Beaming inpatient Millicent Ferguson
was delighted to receive a card from
the Queen to congratulate her and her
husband Edgar on their Diamond Wedding
anniversary.
Millicent came to Sandwell Hospital
on Christmas Eve after suffering from
breathing problems. After excellent care
from our nursing staff, she was discharged
on 28 December (the day of her
anniversary) and was able to celebrate the
occasion with her family in the comfort of
her own home.
She said: “It was fabulous to receive the
card from the Queen. It really perked me
up, although I have experienced really
good care here and everyone has looked
after me well.”
Jane ditches the cigarettes
Congratulations to Jane Ashmore, Ward
Clerk at Leasowes who has now been
smokefree for nine weeks.
Jane, who smoked between 15 and 20
cigarettes a day for over 15 years, visited
her GP and started a smoking cessation
programme. She now has an inhalator
and nicotine patches and is enjoying her
smokefree life.
“My father was astonished,” said Jane.
“My family never thought I could do it –
but I have!
“I feel really good and I have a lot more
energy.”
Jane believes that she is saving around
£250 each month from not buying
cigarettes, which she plans on using
towards a holiday.
Senior External Communications Officer, Vy
Tran is moving to join Helpforce – a charity
that recruits volunteers for the NHS
Millicent Ferguson was delighted to
show colleagues on Priory 4 her letter
from the Queen
Well done Jane – you are an inspiration to
others looking to quit.
If you are looking to follow in
Jane’s shoes, there is lots of support
