Why did you decide to become a police officer?
To hopefully be able to change the life of
just one person for the better. I believe
that one good deed creates a ripple effect
and it will spread to others.
How long have you been with the department?
I have been with Flora Police Department
for a year and three months.
Tell us about your family.
My parents divorced at an early age.
My mother is a cardiovascular nurse in
Arizona and a horse enthusiast. My father
is a deputy at the Madison County
Sheriff’s Department.
What is the toughest thing you have experienced
in your job?
The toughest part of my job is always
remaining mentally in the game and being
aware of your surroundings.
Share some things you enjoy doing in your
spare time.
I enjoy hunting and fishing and being
outdoors. I also enjoy spending time with
my family and dog.
What are three things on your bucket list?
I have filled one thing on my bucket list
and that is to become a law enforcement
officer. The next goal of mine is to be a
narcotics officer. My next goal, beyond
that, is to be able to travel the world and
experience different cultures.
DEPARTMENT
Who is someone you admire and why?
I admire my father. He has raised me into
the man I am today. He also gives me
goals to chase in law enforcement.
Someday I hope to accomplish what he
has in his career.
Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
I see myself still working in law enforcement
and being a part of a narcotics team.
I also see myself having a house with a
wife and few kids running around.
If you could give one piece of advice to a young
person, what would it be?
My advice to a young person is to have
faith in God and listen to your parents.
Your parents and the Lord will never steer
you wrong.
What is a favorite childhood memory?
My favorite memory is when I was
younger and all our family and friends
would come down to our deer camp in
Rodney, Mississippi, for Thanksgiving
dinner. I always loved it when everyone
would come together and tell stories—
whether it was about hunting or what
they have been up to.
What is the biggest mistake you think young
people make today?
I think the biggest mistake that youth
makes is losing faith in God. A lot of kids
tend to steer to what is popular and what
everyone else is doing or thinking. I
believe if you follow God and listen to
your parents you will achieve your goals.
What is your favorite thing about the
City of Flora?
There are so many good things I could
say about working for the city of Flora.
However, I think my most favorite thing
is when we go through a tragic time or if
someone is in need, everyone is always
there for one another. I have never been
part of a community that comes together
more when someone is in need—and I am
proud to say I am part of that, being here.
