Sakhi #CravingToCradle In an article published by Times of India, it was stated that women shop 2.2 times more than men. With out them for the hackathon being e- commerce for women, the first thing we did was to go through the flipkart's website and look for issues that we could solve problems that concerned women. We observed that though flipkart had a women's section, they didn't cater the needs of an expecting mother and that's how our journey of the hackathon started! Our proposal was targeted to all those women in their maternity stages who hardly find any time to shop offline. Moreover, when a new generation is being nurtured during nine months of pregnancy, more prenatal care is required. We wanted to use Flipkart as a platform to cater their every small and big needs all throughout their journey.We created an add-on "Sakhi" to the flipkart's website. Sakhi is an online recommendation system that that creates a personalised store for expecting mothers by suggesting products across a wide range of categories like apparels, books, music, nutrition and cosmetics which can be tailored and offered at their doorstep. During the user's first login, Sakhi takes all the information like the height, waist size, bust size and the month of pregnancy to keep a track of the user and customizes her store. This also helps recommending products at later point of time. We built a machine learning model for the recommendation system using collaborative filtering. For the product data, we scraped various websites like firstcry and myntra and the entire website was built and integrated using python flask framework. The entire hackathon journey was a great joyful and learning experience. We were exposed to many new things as we were building everything from the scratch. The real joy was then, when our idea bagged 2 nd prize at the end of the Hackathon. OMNI-FILTER When you are shopping for a particular person and specially, when you are switching to a different category, the task of re-applying filters is quite a tedious task.To exemplify the current scenario, consider a customer who is shopping for herself. The customer first searches for skirts by setting a filter for her size. She might then look of pants in her size by re-applying the filter to her size. She might look for shoes to go with the outfit by again filtering her shoe size. Isn’t there a way to do all of the filtering at once? So, our idea Omni-Filter helps the customers to save their sizes along with the ones they wish to shop for (eg. family). Later whenever they wish to shop, they will only have to select the person to shop for which will automatically apply the filters on every category they choose henceforth (foot size, top size, bottom size). This will also make shopping for others easier. Absolutely hassle free. Through this idea our main aim was to increase the customer satisfaction by automating filtering process to cater particular individual sizes thereby reducing search downtime. Overall, the journey was super exciting and stressful, as we had to understand the problem very clearly and the complete prototype had to be built within very small span of time. The Hackathon was not like any conventional Hackathon, here the feeling was like doing real contribution to the society. Finally,our idea received 3 rd Prize among all the groups. We used HTML, Bootstrap, JavaScript to implement this idea and MySQL for Database connection. The main challenging part of the implementation was Optimization i.e. accessing the size-charts of all the brands and comparing the body measurements saved by the users optimally.
