ICan
It is well known that India is the second most
populous country in the world with the
population of over 132 crores and over 20 lakh of
them are living with speech disability in one form
or the other. In an ideal world, every person
would know Sign Language but in this one, it is
next to impossible. Most Sign speakers depend
on pen and paper or phone keypad to
communicate with Non-Sign speakers. But, it is
such a tedious job to write or type out the most
frequent messages.
The team of ―Eleventh Hour Creations‖ has
developed a solution to simplify this mundane
task. From instant text to speech to saving
common phrases, the app ―I Can‖ is built to make
daily communication with Non-Sign speakers
swift and facile. The highlight of the app has to
be the ―Gesture‖ feature that allows users to save
text along with a touch gesture shortcut which
convert text-to-speech in a jiffy.
The journey of building this app was really
memorable. It was started with idea selection and
then gradually adding the features to it made the
journey with ups and downs. Finally, our app was
selected among best 3 apps that got opportunity
for showcasing in front of Microsoft Leadership
Team. The real success was then, when it reached
544 installs and was downloaded by people of 7
countries other than India.
The free app is available on Google Play as a
tool. To download or to know more about the app
