Although <strong>Oshawa</strong> is not known as a <strong>to</strong>urist dest<strong>in</strong>ation, there are many th<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>to</strong><br />

do around the city. The next time you need a break from study<strong>in</strong>g, check out one<br />

of these fun ideas.<br />

1. Canadian Au<strong>to</strong>motive Museum<br />

Previously a car dealership, the Canadian Au<strong>to</strong>motive Museum is now one of the<br />

<strong>to</strong>p attractions <strong>in</strong> <strong>Oshawa</strong>. It is home <strong>to</strong> a number of Canadian-made vehicles,<br />

some of which date back more than a century.<br />

2. Robert McLaughl<strong>in</strong> Gallery<br />

Budd<strong>in</strong>g artists need <strong>to</strong> visit the Robert McLaughl<strong>in</strong> Gallery. In <strong>to</strong>tal, there are<br />

more than 4,500 works of art, all contemporary or modern pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs, sculptures,<br />

and pr<strong>in</strong>ts.<br />

3. Waterfront Trail<br />

Waterfront Trail starts from Niagara-on-the-Lake and runs more than 1,500<br />

kilometers. It runs through <strong>Oshawa</strong>, along the Lake Ontario shorel<strong>in</strong>e. You can<br />

easily walk or cycle for long stretches of the trail.<br />

4. <strong>Oshawa</strong> Zoo and <strong>Fun</strong> Farm<br />

Around 50 species of animals live at <strong>Oshawa</strong> Zoo and <strong>Fun</strong> Farm, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g camels,<br />

monkeys, wallabies, and domestic animals like m<strong>in</strong>i donkeys, goats, and pigs.<br />

Many of the residents are abandoned or <strong>in</strong>jured animals who have been rescued<br />

by the zoo.<br />

5. Swimm<strong>in</strong>g Pools<br />

Swimmers are spoilt for choice <strong>in</strong> <strong>Oshawa</strong>. Both <strong>Do</strong>nevan Pool and Civic<br />

Recreation Complex Pool have <strong>in</strong>door pools and the latter also has a div<strong>in</strong>g board<br />

and sauna. There’s also Rotary Pool, a heated outdoor pool. If you’re look<strong>in</strong>g for


fun, though, you should probably pick Legends Centre Pool, as it has water slides,<br />

a lazy river, and a beach.<br />

6. Attend a Sports Game<br />

Whatever the season, a sports event is likely tak<strong>in</strong>g place <strong>in</strong> <strong>Oshawa</strong>. The city has<br />

hockey, lacrosse, football, basketball, and rugby teams.<br />

7. McLaughl<strong>in</strong> Bay Wildlife Reserve<br />

With 11 trails stretch<strong>in</strong>g for 7 kilometres, there’s plenty <strong>to</strong> explore <strong>in</strong> McLaughl<strong>in</strong><br />

Bay Wildlife Reserve. Dur<strong>in</strong>g dry weather, grassy trails are ideal. At other times of<br />

the year, you have gravel and wood paths. Be sure <strong>to</strong> head out <strong>to</strong> the viewpo<strong>in</strong>ts<br />

<strong>to</strong> see the most scenic parts of the reserve.<br />

Wouldn’t it be great if you could f<strong>in</strong>d fun activities onsite at your<br />

and foosball. If you want <strong>to</strong> stay healthy, there’s a fitness centre and yoga room.<br />
