Vickie & Randy Mascagni
Bethany Cole
In the early 1970s, at the
University of Southern Mississippi,
Randy and Vickie Mascagni were
set up on a blind date. As anyone
knows, blind dates can be quite the
gamble. Thankfully, in the case of
this pair, the date turned out to be
a tremendous success. “I liked him
almost immediately,” says Vickie.
Unbeknownst to Vickie, earlier in
the year, Randy had been been
praying for, as he says, “a good girl
to date.” Three years after their
first date, his prayers came to full
fruition, and the two married in
July of 1976. This year the Mascagni’s
will celebrate 43 years of marriage
and 42 years living in Clinton.
Prior to their days at USM,
Vickie and Randy grew up in
different parts of the state. Randy
was born and raised in Natchez, and
graduated from Adams County
Christian High School in 1972.
Vickie grew up on the coast, in
Ocean Springs, and graduated
from Ocean Springs High School,
also in 1972.
Following high school, they both
attended USM. After graduation,
Randy started a job at McCarty
Farms, a chicken processor, as a
local sales manager. Vickie attended
the University of Alabama for a
year of graduate school, where she
completed a dietetic internship.
Six weeks after she finished, they
married at Ocean Springs Baptist
Church.
Vickie had never been to Walt
Disney World, so Randy took her
there for their honeymoon. A few
years later, in 1981, the Mascagni’s
welcomed their first son, Collin.
Their second son, Carter, was
born in 1983.
Before the birth of their children,
during their first year of marriage,
Randy’s father passed away. Randy’s
mother was ill and he, being the
only child, had to manage his father’s
estate wisely, which led him to search
for sound financial and investment
advice. He realized such advice was
a difficult thing to find, so he began
to educate himself in the area of
financial planning. In fact, he
discovered his fervor in investing
by watching Louis Rukeyser’s “Wall
Street Week.” Eventually, as Vickie
says, “It became his passion and he
realized that he would love doing
this work.”
Friends observed his strength
in this area and encouraged him to
pursue a career. Randy began to
study and obtain investment
licenses, including his Certified
Financial Planner designation in
financial planning. He graduated
with his master’s in business from
Mississippi College in 1986. His
interest and preparation led him to
work for a financial planning firm
in Jackson.
After several years with the firm,
Randy started Mascagni Wealth
Management in September of
1990, which at the time went by the
name of Mascagni and Company.
When the company started 29 years
ago, Randy and Vickie’s children
were young. “It was a big step for
us,” says Vickie.
It was a step that turned out to
be the right one. The company
moved to Clinton following its
start in Jackson, and Mascagni
Wealth Management, with clients
spread over 15 states, became a
staple Clinton business–one that
Clintonians know as being run by
people who have a deep love for the
area and its residents.
According to Vickie, there are a
multitude of reasons she and Randy
