Fishing
For generations, sport shermen have ocked
to the Sandusky River, located in Fremont in
Sandusky County, to take part in the walleye
and white bass spring run shing phenomenon.
The river, as well as the surrounding area, offers
numerous shing opportunities. While the spring
run is our most popular shing opportunity, good
shing can be found all year long in the county.
The spring run is known for producing some of
the largest walleye taken from Lake Erie each
year. The most consistent success on spring
walleye usually occurs in the deep pools that
line the Sandusky River between the State
Street and Miles Newton Bridges in Fremont.
People come from all over the country to sh
the bounteous waters of our river!
The actual start date of the spring run is triggered
by water temperature, so dates may vary. For the
latest shing informaiton and water conditions,
visit our website at www.sanduskycounty.org.
Be sure to also pick up our Angler Savings
Card that is available anywhere shing licenses
are sold in the county and also at the Visitors
Bureau. This card entitles anglers to discounted
hotels, food and more!
