U.S. News & World Report measured 733 nursing homes in Illinois, and Victorian Village Health & Wellness Center was one of only 44 communities to receive the highest performing ratings in both categories. They were named in the Top 6 percent of nursing homes in Illinois. The small-house style of care offers unique care in an environment that is designed to look and feel like home. Speciallytrained staff assist residents, whether they are there for short-term, postacute rehabilitation stays, or are part of the long-term skilled care community. “We are honored to be named to a list like this,” Sandra Visser, Senior Director of Admissions and Social Services at Victorian Village Health & Wellness Center, said. “We see positive results from our small-house style of care, and we’re proud to offer this unique senior living option.” In the long-term skilled nursing care small house, there are only 10 residents per house, with universal care partners who are able to deliver personalized care. Residents enjoy private rooms, an open kitchen and dining room, and plenty of common areas, both inside and outside, to visit with friends and family. The layout is similar in the sub-acute rehabilitation small house. There are 30 residents spread out over two floors. After an illness, injury or surgery, patients are often discharged from the hospital to Victorian Village for physical, occupational and speech therapies. These patients receive therapy in a building designed to look like home. The short hallways and home-like setting offer realistic opportunities for patients to practice tasks and activities they will be doing once they are home. “We receive a lot of great feedback from people who have gone through our rehab program,” Visser said. “This really is an ideal environment to get better after a hospital stay.” Submitted by Victorian Village Health & Wellness Center, 12600 W.
