Our Trust is passionate about quality
education; all of our academies have one
simple mission - to give our children the
very best education possible and the
very best start in life. We place our
students at the heart of everything
we do and our aim is to nurture and
develop resilience and potential in every
child, making it possible for them to
lead productive and successful lives. We
want our students to strive for ambitious
futures, leaving a positive mark on our
and their communities as a whole.
The Evolve Trust is a values-driven
organisation with an unwavering
commitment “To open minds, creating
opportunities for all to believe in
themselves, achieve their potential and
develop the skills needed to succeed and
enjoy life”.
Our purpose is to provide a first class
education and improve the life chances
of all the young people in the Trust. Our
Trust benefits greatly from the
combination of mainstream and special
schools within the Trust, enabling staff
to benefit greatly from collaborative
learning. Professional development,
challenge and support are at the core
of our school improvement strategy
ensuring that all our staff are welldeveloped
and have the opportunity to
engage in the latest pedagogical
research.
The Evolve Trust is proud to be ambitious

FROM THE HEADTEACHER
Welcome to the Brunts Academy. We
are resolute in our vision to open minds,
creating opportunities for all to believe in
themselves, achieve their potential and
develop the skills needed to succeed and
enjoy life.
We will develop our students so that they
have the intellectual habits, fundamental
core values and qualities of character to
succeed in the 21st century.
We will do this by ensuring that:
• We develop and nurture the talent and
interests of every individual.
• We have a scholastically excellent culture
built around our core values of-
Ambition, Integrity, Inclusivity, Endeavour
and Resilience.
• We deliver a curriculum that allows
students to develop their knowledge
and skills whilst achieving a range of
qualifications.
• We provide high quality teaching and
learning experiences for all.
We want everyone to be proud to be
associated with The Brunts Academy and
The Evolve Trust, due to the high quality
experiences and opportunities we provide.
All of this is only possible by working in
close partnership with parents/carers
to ensure each individual student receives
the most appropriate personalised

We consistently create a safe, purposeful
and hardworking learning environment
which provides quality first teaching, is
accessible to all students and promotes
scholastic excellence at all levels.
We strive for teaching which
motivates students by using a
variety of rewards to recognise effort
and hard work in a structured way thus
valuing their own and others’
contributions so that they can grow
socially, personally and academically.

and events which develop students’

RESILIENCE
Resilience is an important life skill.
When students have resilience they are
open to learning because they believe
in their ability to learn. We incorporate
opportunities for students to experience
mistakes as an expected part of learning,
we aim to build their resilience to
setbacks. Our students gain the competence,
optimism and understanding to
persevere.
When students make mistakes, we
explain that these are not failures: they
are opportunities for the brain to build
a bridge that will bring them success in
the future. More importantly, when our
students correct an error, it provides the
opportunity for them to make a better
choice next time.

AMBITION
The Brunts Academy and The Evolve Trust
are extremely ambitious in achieving the
very best for the students in our care. We
teach our students to strive for the very
best achievement, setting targets and
learning goals to be surpassed. Staff at
The Brunts Academy work incredibly hard
to ensure that students achieve the skills,
knowledge and understanding to be highly
successful in life.
We have continued successes in the
number of students achieving at least a
standard pass in GCSE English & maths
above the national average, amongst a
variety of other GCSE qualifications.
We have a high performing 6th Form with a
100% pass rate and all students going onto
further education, employment or
training.
University destinations include; The
University of Warwick to study Computer
Science, Kings College London to study
Nutrition and Dietetics, The
University of Sheffield to study Politics and
Economics and The University of Leeds to
study Advanced Psychology.
Students have also secured higher level
apprenticeships and employment with
organisations such as Laing O’Rourke,
Gleades and Nottinghamshire Police.
In our latest Ofsted inspection, the
inspection team acknowledged a significant
number of strengths. These included an
increase in student attendance, effective
safeguarding, improvements in English,
good outcomes in Maths and that we place
great importance on ensuring that the
quality of teaching is at least good.

INTEGRITY
At the Brunts Academy we believe in staff,
students and parents/carers working
effectively together to secure the best
possible progress for every child in our care.
Our teachers and governors will do their very
best to:
> Provide a secure and caring environment
for their child;
> Contact parents/carers promptly if there
are any concerns;
> Provide a balanced curriculum which will
meet the needs of all students;
> Offer counselling, guidance and advice
when needed;
> Keep parents/carers informed about their
child’s progress by providing at least one
report and one Parents’ Evening each year;
> Welcome parents/carers involvement in the
life of the school.
Our parents/carers support by doing their
best to:
> Ensure that their child attends school
regularly, on time and properly equipped;
> Take an active and supportive interest in
their child’s life at school;
> Support the code of behaviour of the
school and the school uniform policy;
> Attend Parents’ Evening and support other
school activities;
> Let the school know of concerns, problems
or changes of circumstance which may affect
their child’s work or behaviour;
> Inform the school of their child’s absence
on the first day.
Our students will do their best to:
> Attend school and lessons regularly and on
time;
> Bring all equipment, books and kit they
need for each day;
> Wear the correct school uniform, and have
a clean and tidy appearance;
> Be polite and considerate to all members
of the school community and follow the
code of conduct;
> Complete all their classwork and
homework on time and as well as I can;
> Refuse to take part in bullying or antisocial
behaviour;
> Respect the environment of the school and
its neighbourhood, and help to keep it free
from litter and graffiti.

INCLUSIVITY
Settling into a new school quickly and
happily is an important building block for future
success. Transition can be an anxious time so we
plan carefully for your child’s arrival here. A close
working partnership is well established between
Brunts and our family primary schools and we
work together to provide a series of events and
curricular links aimed at making the transition to
secondary school a smooth one.
We understand how daunting it can be for
children and parents/carers when they move up
into secondary school. Thoughts about making
new friends and not knowing many people can
be a real worry for a lot of children.
Representatives from all the schools in the family
meet regularly to plan events and evaluate what
has gone before.
Where it is felt that particular children may need
additional help at the time of transition, this
information is shared and relevant staff at both
schools liaise closely to ensure that the necessary
support is provided. Members of staff in different
curriculum areas meet with their colleagues in
the other schools to ensure that the primaries
are all preparing their children for their lessons
at Brunts. And to ensure that the teachers at
Brunts know what to expect of their new Year 7
students.
Transition events have included STEM Day with
exciting activities in English, maths and science,
Global Day involving computer science,
humanities and languages, ½ term workshops
and a 3 day induction where all students joining
us in September access countless new learning
opportunities.
