so students dressed in Hawaiian
shirts, sailor hats
and painted their noses
white to look like sunscreen.
And, finally, West
went with a “Warriors”
theme, dressing in green
and black camouflage for
the event.
Other participating
schools included:
Bradley Bourbonnais,
Bolingbrook, Andrew,
Sandburg, Stagg, Homewood-Flossmoor,
Joliet
and Lockport.
Lincoln-Way Central
student Ashley Fuessel, of
Mokena, participated in
several events.
“My favorite event is
hockey,” Fuessel said.
“I’m with my friends.
The games are nice and

A moment of silence
was held as a bell was rang
for former senior at LWE
and Special Olympics
athlete Ben Reznick, who
died in October.
Chicago Wolves, Blackhawks,
Bears, White Sox
and Joliet Slammer mascots
all made a special
appearance and competed
against the school mascots
in the “unofficial” first
event of the games: bouncing
to the finish line on an
exercise ball.
Athletes were then broken
up across the gym and
field house to compete in
their specific activities and
were recognized at the end
of the event during closing
ceremonies.
