CONNECTIVITY
I
T IS no secret that we are headed towards a future where
everything, whether we are talking about Cell to Cell (C2C),
Human to Human (H2H), Human to Machine (H2M), and
Machine to Machine (M2M) systems, will invariably be
increasingly inter and hyper connected with each other. The
significance, of these changes should not be underestimated,
and their impact will be two fold.
Firstly, we continue to see companies make great strides in
helping to connect the last 3.5 Billion people on the planet
using a combination of High Altitude Stratospheric Platforms
(HASP), and low Earth orbit satellite systems, many of which
will be in place and fully operational by 2025, and secondly,
this increasing level of inter-connectedness, when combined
with Artificial Intelligence (AI), and new cloud consumption
models, will drive a revolution that sees humanity, and
machines alike, become increasingly capable at tapping into
an increasingly mature and accessible planet wide Hive Mind.
Today this category is being driven, primarily, by advances
in five significant and ascending technology fields, namely
5G, which will fuel a new global digital services revolution,
High Altitude Platforms, like those being deployed by Google,
Facebook and SpaceX which will connect the last 3.5Billion
people, Molecular Networks that are complementing new
Biotech and Nano Medecine technologies, Nano Satellites,
and Terabit networks, whose development in turn is being
fueled by developments in new optical systems.
In this category there are fifteen significant emerging
technologies:
1. 5G
2. Airbourne Networks
3. Cognitive Radio
4. High Altitude Platforms
5. Interplanetary Internet
6. LiFi
7. Mesh Networks
8. Molecular Networks
9. Multefire
10. Nano Satellites
11. No Power WiFi
12. Self Healing Networks
13. Small Cell Networks
14. Terabit Networks
15. WiGig
16. Wireless Personal Area Networks
