I am a loyal Northfielder, I understand the community’s history and want to see the community continue to thrive. My experience in local government started early on as a high school and college student, spending summers working for Northfield’s Public Works Department. After high school, I became a Firefighter/Paramedic with Northfield Fire/Rescue. I continued on my path of public service as a professional Firefighter/ Paramedic, and an Administrator and improve your constituents’ quality of life? The Village Board Trustee’s represent the entire Village. I can and would represent all the residents of Northfield. Citizens have expressed concern about the following topics: Citizens having input in local government and being heard, development, property taxes, safety, Village services, storm water management, flood control, infrastructure, business development, and property values. The Village Board trustees must listen to the concerns of the Citizens and work with their fellow Board members, Staff and Department heads to provide a plan of action which meets the needs of the Community, while maintaining fiscal responsibility. What makes you the best/a top candidate for this position? I have lived in Northfield my entire life, almost 60 years. I have lived at 1652 Willow Road, 326 Wagner Road, 1699 Winnetka, 347 Linder Ave. and currently at 1655 Orchard lane. I have been a Public servant for 40 years. I have served on the Northfield Village Caucus, The Traffic and Transportation Committee for the Village of Northfield. I was firefighter/paramedic for the Northfield Fire Department for 10 years. I was a Cub Master for Pack 17 in Northfield. Past President and Vice President of the School Board at St. Philip the Apostle School in Northfield. I was a T-Ball coach in Northfield, and girls baseball Coach for the Winnetka Park District. I have a deep understanding of Northfields rich history, needs, and take great pride in having lived here, and volunteered in the Community my entire life. I understand what new families moving into Northfield are looking for, as well as the needs of families who have lived here for as long as I have. We have a strong tax base with a great business Community. I will continue to foster new business growth while maintaining the quality of life Northfield residents currently enjoy and expect from their Village services. I believe in being fiscal responsibility, while providing excellent Village services. I am ready, willing and able to take on the challenges of Village Trustee, and work side by side with the current Village President and board members, as well as the Village staff to lead Northfield. I have demonstrated tremendous leadership skills in my 40 years in the Fire Service, as well as all my time volunteering in various capacities in the community. My resume demonstrates a deep devotion to Northfield and its residents. For those reasons and more, I feel I am very qualified, and top candidate for the position of Village Trustee. These experiences have provided me with a strong foundation of knowledge in relation to budgeting, long term planning and a range of municipal operations. Now, as a retiree, I dedicate my time to volunteering in various capacities within the community. I am the parent of two children that attend public schools in the community — Sunset Ridge Elementary School and New Trier High School. I am a member of the District 29 PTO and New Trier Booster Club. Through my volunteer experiences, I have established strong working relationships with officials from the Northfield Park District, New Trier High School and Sunset Ridge School District 29. An added benefit has been getting to know my neighbors and fellow community members very well, and I believe that I am prepared to represent them as an elected Village Trustee. What do you think is the biggest issue facing your coverage area and how do you plan to approach it to improve your constituents’ quality of life? The greatest issue facing the Village is balancing the need to address aging infrastructure with the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for residents. The Village Board will need to strategically plan for, and address in a fiscally responsible manner, improvements to the aging infrastructure within our village, which includes roadways, the water distribution system, stormwater management, and sanitary sewer systems.
