Okorocha asks court to compel INEC to Professionals issue him Certificate of Return By Ikechukwu Nnochiri & Chinonso Alozie A BUJA—GOVERNOR Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has asked the Federal High Court Abuja to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to issue him a Certificate of Return as the Senator- elect for Imo West Senatorial District. Okorocha, in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/296/ 2019, argued that INEC lacked the statutory powers to withhold his Certificate of Return, insisting that he was validly elected to occupy the senatorial seat. By Wole Mosadomi M INNA—THE renovation of Niger State Government House will cost N3.2 billion Naira. Already, N2.1 billion has been spent on phase one of the project, which includes the main Government House, fencing, redesigning and constructing of the front gate. The phase two, according to plans, is expected to consist of three sets of three-bedroom guest house, swimming pool among others, and N1.6 billion contract has been awarded. Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Zakari Jikantoro, who disclosed this after the end of the state executive meeting at Government House, Minna, yesterday, said: “The project, which will gulp a total of over N3.2 billion is for the renovation, rehabilitation and reconstruction of Government House and N2.1 billion had already been spent on phase one, while the phase two has been contracted out at the cost of N1.6 billion.” According to him, “the renovation of the Government House had been long overdue as the structures had been neglected for years and gradually decaying. Because of the volume of work, the project had to be split into two for proper monitoring and ensuring quality job.” Several millions of Naira were spent on the renovation of the same Government House by the immediate past administration of Dr. Muazu Aliyu immediately late governor, Engineer Abdulkadir Kure left office. The governor’s residence and some of the projects were abandoned before the revisit by the present administration on the same project.
