(see Fig. 2.4(b)) that the rhombic or diamond <strong>and</strong> the rectangular centred plane lattices<br />

were identical! Hence, to this day, the fourteen space lattices are usually, <strong>and</strong> perhaps<br />

unfairly, called Bravais lattices.<br />
