Police Surgeries Lynton Police hold surgeries so that residents and
visitors can come along and chat with PCSO 30366 Grace Cleverdon
about anything which might be worrying them. The surgeries are held
in Lynton, Brendon and Challacombe. Starting from 2nd May 2019
the Brendon surgery will change day and time to Thursday 2nd May
5.30-6pm. Hopefully this will be a more suitable day and time for
residents to come along and have a chat. Please see dates and times of surgeries below.
Theft from motor vehicle Devon and Cornwall Police are urging the public to be aware of
opportunist thieves looking for valuables left in vehicles. Already this year in the Wistlandpound
Reservoir area vehicles have been broken into by having a window smashed and items stolen
from within. Don’t tempt the opportunist thief by leaving items of value on display or under
coats on the back seat, be mindful of who might be observing you and leave things out of sight
in the boot, do not place items under the seats, and remember that loose change left in view
will also tempt someone. Your vehicle is a shop window to the opportunist thief. Marking your
property and registering it at immobilise.com is an extremely effective way of deterring thieves.
Keep dogs under effective control A reminder for all dog owners living or exercising their pets
in the Exmoor area that it’s Lambing Season. When you take your dog into the outdoors always
ensure it does not disturb wildlife, farm animals, horses or other people by keeping it under
effective control and take particular care in controlling your dog around areas with sheep.
Please be aware sheep worrying is an offence. It is legal for landowners to shoot dogs to
protect their livestock provided there was no other way of stopping the dog worrying their
animals and they report the killing to the police within 48 hours. Livestock also includes
domestic fowl, geese or ducks.

April 2019 Police Surgeries Held once a week for one hour in Lynton Library and for half an
hour every four weeks at Staghunters Inn, Brendon and Black Venus Inn at Challacombe.
PCSO 30366 Grace Cleverdon will be available for you to talk to about any concerns you might
have in your Neighbourhood. Letters for Lynton Police can be left in our post box at the front of
the Fire Station or in the “Have your say” box inside Lynton Post Office. Due to last minute
emergencies it is possible an officer may not be able to attend.
