others get certificates of return

Kwara State governor-elect,
Alhaji Abdulrahman
Abdulrazaq and his Borno
State counterpart, Professor
Babagana Zulum, were,
yesterday, given their
certificates of return by
Independent National
Electoral Commission,
INEC.
Their deputies and elected
members of the state Houses
of Assembly equally
received their certificates of
return from INEC.
In Jigawa, Governor
Abubakar’s deputy, Umar
Namadi, and 30 members of
the state House of Assembly,
got their certificates of return.
The 30 members of Jigawa
State Assembly were elected
on the platform of All
Progressives Congress,
APC, across the 27 existing
local government with three
local government areas,
having additional
constituencies making 30
members.
Of the 30 members, 21
were returned, while nine
were newly elected.
Two of the members
(Kaugama and Bulangu)
who were denied automatic
ticket and decamped to
Social Democratic Party, SDP,
were defeated by APC
candidates.
National Electoral
Commissioner in charge of
Kano, Katsina and Jigawa
states, Abubakar Nahuce,
presented the certificates of
return to the governor and
his deputy, while Resident
Electoral Commissioner,
Mahmud Isah, presented to
30 members of the state
Assembly.
Speaking after he received
his certificate, Governor
Abubakar said 2019 elections
were far better than that of
2015 as Nigerians
witnessed free rancour and
hitch-free elections.
Kwara belongs to
all—Abdulrazaq, govelect
In Ilorin, the governorelect,
after receiving his
certificate of return, at the
INEC office in Ilorin, said:
“This state belongs to all. We
don’t see anybody as
opposition. It is Kwara for all.
All hands must be on deck
to rebuild the state. This is a
poor state and a lot of work
has to be done. We will
embrace everybody.
"When you record a
winning margin of 75 per
cent, as we did, it means that
even those on the side of
Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP, also voted for us. So we
are going to ensure that we
all work together. We are not
going to label anybody. There
are good people on the other
side too.”
In his address, a National
Electoral Commissioner at
the event, Mohammed
Haruna, who commended
the peaceful nature of the
election, advised the new
administration to emulate
political maturity of the
Senate President, Dr. Bukola
Saraki, who he said on
behalf of all others that lost
in the election, that the
winners were not his
enemies.

Similarly, in Borno, the
governor-elect unfolded a10-
point transformation agenda
to “rebuild and safe return”
of people to insurgency
affected communities.
Zulum, after receiving his
certificate of return alongside
his running mate, Alhaji
Usman Kadafur, said: "We
shall include all insurgency
ravaged communities; with
a view to retuning IDPs to
their ancestral homes. We
shall address the root causes
of Boko Haram, which
include strengthening the
security system, creating
jobs, inculcating discipline in
our society, among others.”

Nasarawa Assembly speaker solicits
support for new Emir of Lafia, others

LAFIA— SPEAKER of
Nasarawa State House
of Assembly, Ibrahim
Abdullahi, has urged the
people of the state to
support the new Emir of
Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage
(retd), to enable him
succeed not only as a
traditional ruler but to bring
peace, unity and
development among the
diverse ethnic groups in
the state.
Abdullahi spoke,
yesterday, while reacting to
the appointment of the new
Emir of Lafia, Emir of Awe,
and Osu Kadoko of
Kadarko by Governor
Tanko Al-Makura.
According to the speaker,
the lawmakers would
ensure that a level play
ground was provided
through legislative actions
that would make traditional
rulers in the state function
well for the benefits of
citizens and the state.
He said: “As leadership
comes from God at any
given time, what is
required of us as a people
is to support the leaders by
providing them with an
enabling environment at all
levels.We must see the
appointments of Bage and
other traditional rulers as
an act of God.”
The speaker, while
felicitating with the new
Emir of Lafia, admonished
him to bring his wealth of
experience in the law
profession to bear in his new
assignment as a custodian
of tradition and customs of
the people for the overall
growth and development
of the state.
He said: “I want to use
this medium to
congratulate the new Emir
of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage;
the new Emir of Awe, Alhaji
Isa Abubakar Umar, and
Umar Dodo as the new Osu
Kadoko of Kadarko, a third
class traditional ruler in
Keana Local Government
Area.
“I want to assure the new
emir of the lawmakers’
readiness to collaborate
with the traditional council
to promote peace, unity as
well as strengthening the
traditional institutions in
the state.
“The legislators will work
to strengthen the traditional
institutions by enacting
laws and passing
resolutions that would
provide enabling
environment to have direct
bearing on lives of the
people of the state.”
Kogi NSCDC trains personnel on national assets protection,
forensic investigations

has commenced training on
critical national asset and
infrastructure protection
The training, which is
being carried out in
conjunction with
Timewealth Capacity
Limited has 100 of the corps
men drawn from CNAI
Department trained in
forensic investigation.

Jerry Useni, has claimed the
party has “overwhelming
evidence” to ensure success

Progressives Congress, APC,
was declared winner of the
Plateau governorship race on
Sunday, after the
supplementary election that
took place on Saturday.

the campaign council,
yesterday, in Jos, vowed to
give the legal fight “all it takes”
to ensure that votes given to
his party were not wasted.
He advised supporters and
officials of PDP to remain
calm, prayerful and
supportive as the battle for the
governorship seat moved
from the ballot box to the
