certificates of return by<br />
Independent National<br />
Electoral Commission,<br />
INEC.<br />
Their deputies and elected<br />
members of the state Houses<br />
of Assembly equally<br />
received their certificates of<br />
return from INEC.<br />
In Jigawa, G<strong>over</strong>nor<br />
Abubakar’s deputy, Umar<br />
Namadi, and 30 members of<br />
the state House of Assembly,<br />
got their certificates of return.<br />
The 30 members of Jigawa<br />
State Assembly were elected<br />
on the plat<strong>for</strong>m of <strong>All</strong><br />
Progressives Congress,<br />
APC, across the 27 existing<br />
local g<strong>over</strong>nment with three<br />
local g<strong>over</strong>nment areas,<br />
having additional<br />
constituencies making 30<br />
members.<br />
Of the 30 members, 21<br />
were returned, while nine<br />
were newly elected.<br />
Two of the members<br />
(Kaugama and Bulangu)<br />
who were denied automatic<br />
ticket and decamped to<br />
Social Democratic Party, SDP,<br />
were defeated by APC<br />
candidates.<br />
National Electoral<br />
Commissioner in charge of<br />
Kano, Katsina and Jigawa<br />
states, Abubakar Nahuce,<br />
presented the certificates of<br />
return to the g<strong>over</strong>nor and<br />
his deputy, while Resident<br />
Electoral Commissioner,<br />
Mahmud Isah, presented to<br />
30 members of the state<br />
Assembly.<br />
Speaking after he received<br />
his certificate, G<strong>over</strong>nor<br />
Abubakar said 2019 elections<br />
were far better than that of<br />
2015 as Nigerians<br />
witnessed free rancour and<br />
hitch-free elections.<br />
Kwara belongs to<br />
all—Abdulrazaq, govelect<br />
In Ilorin, the g<strong>over</strong>norelect,<br />
after receiving his<br />
certificate of return, at the<br />
INEC office in Ilorin, said:<br />
“This state belongs to all. We<br />
don’t see anybody as<br />
opposition. It is Kwara <strong>for</strong> all.<br />
<strong>All</strong> hands must be on deck<br />
to rebuild the state. This is a<br />
poor state and a lot of work<br />
has to be done. We will<br />
embrace everybody.<br />
"When you record a<br />
winning margin of 75 per<br />
cent, as we did, it means that<br />
even those on the side of<br />
Peoples Democratic Party,<br />
PDP, also voted <strong>for</strong> us. So we<br />
are going to ensure that we<br />
all work together. We are not<br />
going to label anybody. There<br />
are good people on the other<br />
side too.”<br />
In his address, a National<br />
Electoral Commissioner at<br />
the event, Mohammed<br />
Haruna, who commended<br />
the peaceful nature of the<br />
election, advised the new<br />
administration to emulate<br />
political maturity of the<br />
Senate President, Dr. Bukola<br />
Saraki, who he said on<br />
behalf of all others that lost<br />
in the election, that the<br />
winners were not his<br />
enemies.<br />

Similarly, in Borno, the<br />
g<strong>over</strong>nor-elect unfolded a10-<br />
point trans<strong>for</strong>mation agenda<br />
to “rebuild and safe return”<br />
of people to insurgency<br />
affected communities.<br />
Zulum, after receiving his<br />
certificate of return alongside<br />
his running mate, Alhaji<br />
Usman Kadafur, said: "We<br />
shall include all insurgency<br />
ravaged communities; with<br />
a view to retuning IDPs to<br />
their ancestral homes. We<br />
shall address the root causes<br />
of Boko Haram, which<br />
include strengthening the<br />
security system, creating<br />
jobs, inculcating discipline in<br />
our society, among others.”<br />

Nasarawa Assembly speaker solicits<br />
support <strong>for</strong> new Emir of Lafia, others<br />

Abdullahi, has urged the<br />
people of the state to<br />
support the new Emir of<br />
Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage<br />
(retd), to enable him<br />
succeed not only as a<br />
traditional ruler but to bring<br />
peace, unity and<br />
development among the<br />
diverse ethnic groups in<br />
the state.<br />
Abdullahi spoke,<br />
yesterday, while reacting to<br />
the appointment of the new<br />
Emir of Lafia, Emir of Awe,<br />
and Osu Kadoko of<br />
Kadarko by G<strong>over</strong>nor<br />
Tanko Al-Makura.<br />
According to the speaker,<br />
the lawmakers would<br />
ensure that a level play<br />
ground was provided<br />
through legislative actions<br />
that would make traditional<br />
rulers in the state function<br />
well <strong>for</strong> the benefits of<br />
citizens and the state.<br />
He said: “As leadership<br />
comes from God at any<br />
given time, what is<br />
required of us as a people<br />
is to support the leaders by<br />
providing them with an<br />
enabling environment at all<br />
levels.We must see the<br />
appointments of Bage and<br />
other traditional rulers as<br />
an act of God.”<br />
The speaker, while<br />
felicitating with the new<br />
Emir of Lafia, admonished<br />
him to bring his wealth of<br />
experience in the law<br />
profession to bear in his new<br />
assignment as a custodian<br />
of tradition and customs of<br />
the people <strong>for</strong> the <strong>over</strong>all<br />
growth and development<br />
of the state.<br />
He said: “I want to use<br />
this medium to<br />
congratulate the new Emir<br />
of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage;<br />

Jerry Useni, has claimed the<br />

evidence” to ensure success<br />
in its fight to “rec<strong>over</strong>” the<br />
mandate it got at the polls.<br />
It will be recalled that<br />
G<strong>over</strong>nor Simon Lalong of <strong>All</strong><br />
Progressives Congress, APC,<br />
was declared winner of the<br />
Plateau g<strong>over</strong>norship race on<br />
Sunday, after the<br />
supplementary election that<br />
took place on Saturday.<br />
However, Useni, in a speech<br />
at the expanded meeting of<br />
the campaign council,<br />
yesterday, in Jos, vowed to<br />
give the legal fight “all it takes”<br />
to ensure that votes given to<br />
his party were not wasted.<br />
He advised supporters and<br />
officials of PDP to remain<br />
calm, prayerful and<br />
supportive as the battle <strong>for</strong> the<br />
g<strong>over</strong>norship seat moved<br />
from the ballot box to the<br />
hence the need to engage<br />
the corps members in<br />
constant and new method<br />
of combating crimes.<br />
Ohurofa said the training<br />
would enhance the capacity<br />
of the corps members and<br />
impart on them a more<br />
advance way of carrying out<br />
investigation<br />
He said: “Nigeria is faced<br />
with asymmetric threats, the<br />
security personnel must<br />
adopt new strategy in<br />
tribunal.<br />
The candidate said hope<br />
was not lost, and promised<br />
that he would continue to<br />
give effective leadership to<br />
the party toward achieving<br />
the task of “rescuing” Plateau<br />
from hunger and poor<br />
leadership.<br />
“I will not allow the party<br />
to disintegrate just because<br />
we are not in g<strong>over</strong>nment.<br />
We have a duty to make<br />
Plateau better than it is. I will<br />
always give purposeful<br />
guidance,” he said.<br />
Similarly, Senator Jonah<br />
Jang, <strong>for</strong>mer Plateau<br />
g<strong>over</strong>nor, advised PDP<br />
members to intensify prayers<br />
and not be discouraged. He<br />
expressed support <strong>for</strong> the<br />
decision to challenge the<br />
outcome of the election in<br />
court and urged members to<br />
be supportive of one another.<br />

Deputy Senate President,<br />
Alhaji Nasiru Mantu, called<br />
