'It was necessary for me to be naked in the photos as this is how we enter and leave the world,' he said. Si said the pictures were taken by his wife, Lin Shan, after he sought permission from the cemetery's caretaker. 'We shouldn't be afraid to show real art to the world,' he said. His account on Weibo was suspended after the photos went viral and generated much criticism from net users on the site. 'You did something that no one else could ever do. You've gone beyond the boundary of moral principles and held a direct conversation with your ancestor,' another said. 'As long the action means something to you, that's all that matters,' one user said. 'It doesn't matter what other people think.' In China, there are many superstitions and rules surrounding the treatment of remains and tombs of family members - digging up someone's remains, or disturbing the dead, is considered to be hugely disrespectful and is believed to bring bad karma.
