WORKING WITH THE BBC
TO EXPOSE SCANDAL
JMP Partnership has been working
with BBC News and BBC
Radio 4 over the last few months
to expose some of the deceptive
behaviour that banks have been
involved in.
‘Over the last 5 years we have sent
hundreds of examples of widespread
misconduct to the FCA (banking
regulator) and the point came earlier
this year when it became apparent
that nothing was being done to stop
it’ said Jon Platt, Managing Director
of JMP.
Since JMP Partnership started
exposing this scandal with the help
of the BBC, both Barclays & HSBC
have been forced to admit that they
will have to write out
to tens of thousands of
consumers they gave
misleading information to. BBC
News and the BBC consumer
affairs programme You &
Yours on Radio 4 have already run
a number of stories and the people
interviewed for these programmes
were clients of JMP Partnership.
Stephen Pearce from Wales was one
of the people who agreed to tell his
story to the BBC.
Stephen said “Barclays replied to me
and said that I didn’t have PPI, and I
was prepared to accept that at the
time because I assumed the bank
had done its research and that was
the truthful and correct answer”,
he said. After beginning to doubt
what he was told, Mr Pearce hired a
CMC (JMP Partnership) to pursue
the matter. Barclays finally wrote
back and admitted he had PPI after
all. The bank accepted that the PPI
policy had been mis-sold and offered
Mr Pearce a refund of £3,991.52.
Sharon Humby from the Isle of Wight
was lied to by Natwest and that lie
cost Natwest over £4,000 in total
compensation. More scandals are set
to be exposed every week.
LLOYDS RIPS OFF
SMALL BUSINESSES
This offer from Lloyds relates to
a small business based just a
few miles away from JMP Partnership’s
offices on the
Isle of Wight. This
small businesswoman
was missold
several products
by Lloyds Bank
including products
called CORI and
BLRI. These are
essentially PPI policies
sold alongside
commercial loans
and overdrafts
and they were, in
almost every case,
mis-sold.
Just a few days
before this offer of nearly £60,000
came in, this small business collapsed
and the owner was subsequently
declared bankrupt. This refund,
along with two other refunds we
secured for the business, were
ultimately paid to the Official
Receiver for the benefit of the
businesses creditors.
If JMP Partnership
had been instructed
just a week or
two sooner, these
refunds would have
prevented this
businesswoman
from being declared
bankrupt and
provided vital cashflow
at a difficult
time.
JMP Partnership
has recovered
millions of pounds of
mis-sold commercial
PPI from Lloyds Bank so any small
business in Cirencester that banked
with Lloyds should get in touch with
JMP and see if they are owed some
of the hundreds of millions of pounds
that is still unclaimed.
