expo brings women<br />
together for fun,<br />

Every year, 22nd Century<br />
Media aims to make its<br />
Lady - A Women’s Expo<br />
event bigger and better.<br />
And this spring’s Lady<br />
is both of those things —<br />
10,000-square-feet of exposition<br />
space has been<br />
added; more than 127 vendors<br />
have reserved booths;<br />
and organizers are expecting<br />
record attendance. All<br />
of the food, fashion, fitness<br />
and lifestyle fun attendees<br />
have come to expect will<br />
be there, too, in ample<br />
measure from 9 a.m.-1<br />
p.m. Saturday, April 27, at<br />
the Tinley Park Convention<br />
Center, 18451 Convention<br />
Center Drive.<br />
But Heather Warthen,<br />
the publishing company’s<br />
chief events officer, also<br />
set out with another aim<br />
this time around: female<br />
empowerment.<br />
That is why, in addition<br />
to cooking demonstrations<br />
and fitness instruction, the<br />
expo’s stages are to host<br />
several notable, inspiring<br />
speakers.<br />
“I really wanted to make<br />
it my goal this year to include<br />
some great, inspiring<br />
messages for women,”<br />
Warthen said. “And we<br />
wound up with a fantastic<br />
group.”<br />
The speakers will include<br />
Rachel McCurdy,<br />
who will discuss the success<br />
of The Talking Shirt,<br />
her Frankfort boutique,<br />
and its recent distribution<br />
deal with Von Maur<br />
department stores. Tracy<br />
DeGraaf, known as the<br />
Laugh Anyway Mom, will<br />

The main stage also<br />
is to feature a mom-centric<br />
fitness demo, yoga<br />
and George Mitchell, of<br />
Mitchell’s Flowers &<br />
Events, performing flower<br />
arrangements to music.<br />
Several event attendees<br />
will go home with arrangements,<br />
Warthen said.<br />

representing a range of<br />
cuisines.<br />
