UYO—A PASTOR with
New Apostolic Church
and a father of three, Okon
Sunday, was allegedly killed
by his younger brothers over
a minor argument in Atan
Offot, a suburb of Uyo
metropolis.
Vanguard gathered that
the deceased on the fateful
day was said to have
collected three sheets of
asbestos ceiling boards
owned by his younger
brother, Felix Sunday, to fix
some rooms in the family
house in order to rent it out,
not knowing that he was
digging his grave.
It was gathered that when
Felix returned home and
discovered that his elder
brother had used the ceiling
boards without his consent,
that he was highly infuriated
and threatened to deal
ruthlessly with the brother.
A family source said the
pastor quickly called the
police and registered
complaint about his brother's
threat, but before the police
could come to his rescue he
was allegedly hacked to
death in cold blood.
Accordding to the
source,“Pastor Okon after
making the call to the police
to come over for the arrest of
his two brothers, Felix and
Kingsley, boasted that the
two of them would not sleep
in the house that night.
‘’When it became obvious
that Okon was determined
to get them arrested that
night, they told the pastor:
'so you want to send us back
to the C division as you did
last month? Since you said
we will not sleep in this
house you will not also sleep
in this house'.”
It was further gathered that
Felix immediately ordered
his wife to leave the house
with his only child to an
undisclosed destination
before asking his other
brother, Kingsley, to bring out
two machetes from their
room which they used in
slaughtering him.
Vanguard gathered that
there had been a running
battle between the deceased
and his two brothers over the
ownership of the family
house since their father’s
demise.
Police Public Relations
Officer, Macdon Odiko, a
Superintendent of Police,
said he was not yet briefed
on the incident at press time,
but promised to call back as
soon as information was
made available to him by the
homicide department.
Police arrest 3 suspected internet fraudsters
for impersonating Sunny Ade
•Fleece victims of N3.1m

THREE suspected internet
fraudsters that allegedly
impersonated music maestro, King
Sunny Ade, and fleeced unsuspecting
members of the public of over N3.1
million have been arrested by the police
in Lagos.
The suspects, Lawrence Femi, 27, his
girlfriend, Rebecca Oyebode, 23 and
Oyewumi Abiodun, 27, were arrested
by detectives attached to Special
Intelligence Bureau, SIB, after King
Sunny Ade made an official complain
to the Commissioner of Police that some
persons were using his identity to
defraud innocent Nigerians.
It was learned that the suspects
created a King Sunny Ade fan page on
Instagram, which they used to make
fake advert placement entitled KSA USA
TOUR. They requested interested
persons to contact them.
Police sources said based on that, some
people started paying money to them
and over 55 persons paid to the
fraudsters, adding that they were offering
USA visa.
The source said the unsuspecting
members of the public paid various
sums of money into a given account with
a second generation bank.
The source said: “Their arrest was
carried out with the tracking of the bank
account and detectives were able to get
the girl, whose name was used to open
the account.
"She explained that it was her
boyfriend that opened the account with
her name and that he was with the ATM
card. She led detectives to the suspect
in Oyo State and they were all rounded
up.“
Sunny Ade reacts
The victim, Sunny Ade, told
Vanguard at the Lagos State Police
Command headquarters, Ikeja when
he visited to thank the police for a job
well done that he knew about the scam
when people started calling his phone
number to say that they have paid the
money into his account.
He said: “They will say they are this
and they got paid for visa. When it was
getting too much for me, I had to invite
the police to trace those behind the
impersonation, so that my name would
be cleared and people would know that
I am not the person defrauding them.
"I have never done anything like that
in my life and career. I am a lawabiding
citizen of this country. So,
I had to call the police to come
and help me.”
On how he felt when he heard
that his name was being used to
commit fraud, he stated: “It was
like someone loading a gun in
your presence and corking it. I
advise the police to help me
recover all the money got from all
the victims and refund it to them.
Advice for youths
" This is what I have been saying
for a long time now; the youth
should not be too ambitious in
getting things that don’t belong
to them.
“Again, they need to have the
fear of God in their heart and the
fear of the nation and the law.
Eventually, when you are doing
things that are wrong, you will
have to pay for it. Someone who
has been doing business
legitimately and you take
advantage of their image to fleece
victims of their hard earned
money.
"This is not a matter of album; it
is going to be more than an album.
It is not only youths alone, we
have to work with the family by
way of educating them that they
shouldn’t allow their kids to act

"I plead with the federal, state
and local government agencies
to join hands and put an end to
this menace. So far, I am
satisfied with the police
investigation.”
Suspect’s account
The main suspect, 27-year-old
Oyedokun Lawrence Femi said: “I
was arrested because I
impersonated King Sunny Ade. I
did that by creating a fan page with
his name and pictures sometime last
year. Early this year, I posted
something on Instagram about
KSA USA TOUR. I just posted it to
make money.

Armed bandits attack, dispossess police officers of rifles in Delta

ASABA —ARMED bandits
reportedly inflicted machete
injuries on three police officers attached
to Delta State Police Command, State
Headquarters, Asaba, dispossessing
them of two rifles.
The police officers, an inspector and
two rank and files, were attacked by their
assistants while on stop-and- search
duty around NIPPI Point at Inter-bus
roundabout in Asaba, the state capital.
It was learned that the bandits
attacked the police officers few minutes
that the police patrol van left with the
driver and one of the officers leaving
only three officers behind at the NIPPI
Point.
An eye witness, who craved
anonymity, said the first victim just
finished directing a driver making
phone call in a parked vehicle to
leave the vicinity when four of the
suspected bandits attacked him
with machetes and made away
with his rifle.
The source said as he was being
attacked, another group were
also attacking Inspector Francis,
whose gun was also snatched.
According to him, the third, a
police corporal escaped with his
riffle but also suffered machete
cuts in his hand

Commissioner of Police, CP
Adeyinka Adeleke, denied the
incident, saying: “It is not true. How
come you are the one confirming it
to me?”
Woman in court for hitting minor with burning
firewood
A34-year-old housewife,
Dolapo Oluwafunmilola,
yesterday, appeared in an Ado-
Ekiti Magistrate's Court for
allegedly hitting a nine-yearold
girl with burning firewood
in the mouth.
The police charged
Oluwafunmilola, whose
address was not provided with
assault.
The prosecution counsel, Insp
Caleb Leramo, told the court that
the defendant committed the
offence on April 12 at Ilupeju
Avenue area in Ado-Ekiti.
He said that the victim who
is an orphan, was maltreated
by the defendant.
Leramo said that the
defendant hit the girl with
burning firewood in the mouth,
causing burns on her chest .
He noted that the offence
contravened the provisions of
Section 338 of the Criminal Code,
Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor asked for an
adjournment to enable him study
the case file and present his
witnesses.
