Families invade Trancas
for springtime bonanza

Malibuites gathered to
celebrate spring at Trancas
Country Market’s Celebrate
Spring: Hop Into Trancas
on Sunday, April 14, enjoying
children’s activities, a
lovely egg hunt and matzah
making.
“It’s great that they have a
planting station for the children
to plant vegetables and
herbs,” said Jasmine Rastegar,
who brought her three
children, aged two to six, to
the event. “I really like that
because the children can see
how the plants grow and eat
them and we’re all excited
to take them home.”
Children had many choices
regarding what to plant,
including roma tomatoes,
oregano, sweet peppers and
a variety of beans and flowers.
Soon, it was time to make
matzah balls with Rabbi Ari
Teleshevsky, who lined all
the kids up, bedecked them
with plastic gloves and
walked them through the
process.
With flour dispersed on
gloves to ensure that no
dough got stuck, the Rabbi
demonstrated how to add
flour and water together to
start making the matzah.
Some happy children had
samples to take home.
“We gathered here today
to bring the traditions
of Judaism to life and to get
the kids to connect with our
heritage by bringing our traditions
to the marketplace,”
Rabbi Teleshevsky said.
Older children hovered
protectively over eggs so
that little ones didn’t know
what was going on.

Lambert said.
Then, it was finally time
for the egg hunt. Children
grabbed baskets and scrambled
to find as many eggs as
possible.
SweetBu Candy and Vintage
Grocers sponsored the
egg hunt and, as children
opened their plastic eggs,
they realized that the golden
eggs contained something
special: credit to purchase
candy at SweetBu.
