The City is committed to doing everything possible to help community members with their immediate needs, to provide a smooth process for those who lost homes to establish temporary housing on their property and to rebuild, and to resume normal City services and activities. NEW -DEPT. OF INSURANCE WORKSHOP APRIL 28, CITY HALL State Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara and the United Policyholders are hosting afree Insurance Workshop for Malibu residents impacted by the Woolsey Fire. The event will include atown hall meeting and free, one-on-one appointments with experts from the Department of Insurance. Sunday, April 28 at Malibu City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Road, Malibu, CA 90265). Town hall: 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Appointments: 11:00 AM –3:00 PM. To schedule an appointment call 800-927-4357. Walk-ins will accommodated on first-come, first-served basis. NEW -VIDEOS OF MARCH 28&31CITY REBUILD WORKSHOPS The City held two Woolsey Fire Rebuild Workshops and Consultations at City Hall on March 28 and 31. Representatives from City departments and outside agencies provided assistance to homeowners and professionals who are working with homeowners rebuilding homes burned in the fire. NEW -RESILIENCY PROGRAMS As part of the City's efforts to offer support and resources to residents impacted by the devastating Woolsey Fire, the Community Services and Environmental Sustainability Depts. created aseries of free Resiliency Programs. NEW -EQUESTRIAN PARK RE-OPENS AFTER FIRE DAMAGE The Malibu Equestrian Park reopened on April 8after being damaged in the Woolsey Fire. Other minor work will continue throughout the park in the upcoming weeks, but the park is open. The park is located adjacent to Malibu High School. It features two riding arenas, picnic area, and restrooms. It is available for rent for horse shows and lessons, and is open to the public for practice and recreational riding. HANDOUTS -PLANNING APPLICATION WORKSHEET The Planning Dept. created aworksheet to help residents rebuilding their homes with their Planning Verification application, which expedites in-kind and up to 10% expansion of the building envelope. REBUILDING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs) The City offers astreamlined process for residents to get back into their homes. NEW -FIRE DEBRIS REMOVAL LOCATIONS CalRecycle started fire debris removal under the California state-sponsored program the week of February 4, 2019 at properties that were burned in the Woolsey Fire in Malibu, as well as in the unincorporated Malibu area. Every week, we post the streets where fire debris removal work is taking place at www.malibucity.org/debrislocations.
