Shevington Fete
The Shevington & District Community Fete has
been announced for 2019.
Mark your calendars: on Saturday, June 22 from
11am-4pm, you can enjoy loads of live music, plus
stalls to browse and delicious food to feast on across
the village. The fete will stretch across Shevington
Recreation Ground, St. Anne’s Parish Rooms, the
youth club and the Methodist church.

Summer Nights
Two huge outdoor cinema experiences head to
Dunham Massey park this summer.
Catch a special showing of Grease on Thursday,
August 29 from 6:30pm with the beautiful grounds
as a backdrop. Experience the friendships, romance
and adventure of the hit musical like you’ve never
seen it before, and have a good old singalong while
you’re at it!
On Saturday, August 31, Bohemian Rhapsody
heads to the park at 6:30pm. You’ll follow Queen
through their huge career all through to their heady
performance at the 1985 Live Aid.
Tickets for the films cost £15.50 per adult, £10.50
per child under 12, or free for under-5s. For more

UTC to Close
Wigan UTC is to close its doors for good in August.
The college is no longer in a financially viable
position due to declining student numbers.
Governors are currently working to find a way
forward through talks with the Department of
Education, while parent meetings are set to take
place to share concerns and discuss future options.
Those affected are encouraged to email Lisa Nandy
on lisa.nandy.mp@parliament.uk to request an
extension on the closure and allow current students
to finish their education.
