Shevington Fete<br />

The Shevington & District Community Fete has<br />

been announced for <strong>2019</strong>.<br />

Mark your calendars: on Saturday, June 22 from<br />

11am-4pm, you can enjoy loads of live music, plus<br />

stalls to browse and delicious food to feast on across<br />

the village. The fete will stretch across Shevington<br />

Recreation Ground, St. Anne’s Parish Rooms, the<br />

youth club and the Methodist church.<br />

Summer Nights<br />

Two huge outdoor cinema experiences head to<br />

Dunham Massey park this summer.<br />

Catch a special showing of Grease on Thursday,<br />

August 29 from 6:30pm with the beautiful grounds<br />

as a backdrop. Experience the friendships, romance<br />

and adventure of the hit musical like you’ve never<br />

seen it before, and have a good old singalong while<br />

you’re at it!<br />

On Saturday, August 31, Bohemian Rhapsody<br />

heads to the park at 6:30pm. You’ll follow Queen<br />

through their huge career all through to their heady<br />

performance at the 1985 Live Aid.<br />

Tickets for the films cost £15.50 per adult, £10.50<br />

per child under 12, or free for under-5s. For more<br />

UTC to Close<br />

<strong>Wigan</strong> UTC is to close its doors for good in August.<br />

The college is no longer in a financially viable<br />

position due to declining student numbers.<br />

Governors are currently working to find a way<br />

forward through talks with the Department of<br />

Education, while parent meetings are set to take<br />

place to share concerns and discuss future options.<br />

Those affected are encouraged to email Lisa Nandy<br />

on lisa.nandy.mp@parliament.uk to request an<br />

extension on the closure and allow current students<br />

to finish their education.<br />
