Festival Fun
A group of runners from
the Wigan-based HW
Moon Toyota took to the
track in the Run Wigan
Festival 2019.
The festival took over
Wigan town centre in
March in support of local
charity Joining Jack, which
helps raise money and
awareness for Duchenne
Muscular Dystrophy, a
degenerative condition
affecting children across
the world.
HW Moon was approached
three years ago by the Joining Jack family to be
the principal sponsor of the first ever Run Wigan
event, and since then the festival has only grown
in popularity. This year’s festival saw thousands of
runners take part in the half marathon, 5km race
and family mile, as well as the inaugural 10 miler.
HW Moon Toyota Centre Principal Steven Mather
said: ‘HW Moon Toyota have a long history in the
town and are well established sponsors of Wigan
Warriors, so it felt very natural to become part of
this fantastic community event. This year we had
staff participation in all the running distances and
sore legs the following day as
proof!
‘As well as the half marathon,
10k and 5k races for the more
serious athletes, there is a
focus on community health
and family fun in the family
mile, with everyone able to
come together and enjoy
the fantastic entertainment
provided in the town centre.
‘We look forward to the
continued success of the Run
Wigan Festival and are happy
to announce our continued
support as principal sponsor.’
