Orland Park
Public Library
Submitted by Orland Park
Public Library
The Orland Park Public
Library is undergoing a partial
roof replacement that
was set to begin April 15.
The project is expected
to last 4-6 weeks and is
weather-dependent. Parking
may be limited, and the
east side of the building,
including the 149th Street
entrance, will be shut off
to car and foot traffic beginning
that day.
The library moved into
its 93,000-square-foot
building in September
of 2004 and the roof has
not been replaced during
the past 15 years. Patrons
will have priority parking
in the spots nearest to the
building.
Orland Grassland Volunteers’ Earth Day
Celebration to take place on April 27
Submitted by Orland Grassland
Volunteers
At 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 27, the
Orland Grassland Volunteers will celebrate
Earth Day by rescuing the habitat
from Callery/Bradford pear.
In memory of longtime volunteer Dick
Thomas, the volunteers will dedicate this
day to him.
Meet up is at the site’s parking lot
on 167th Street, just west of LaGrange
Road.
Those who would like to help can join
the Volunteers on April 27. This is a family
activity, but it is recommended for
those 8 years old and older, and those
who can navigate natural terrain. The
work qualifies for community service
hours. Tools, guidance and refreshments
will be provided. Participants should be
sure to dress for the weather, with sturdy
shoes that can handle a little mud, and
jeans and long sleeves.
