With Jade Hamilton
Jade Hamilton is a junior
lacrosse player for the
Sandburg co-op team who
returned to the sport this
season after ACL surgery
and is also a bowler for
the Eagles.
Do you have any
college plans yet
and do they involve
lacrosse?
Yes, I want to go away
to school, pursue either
nursing, pre-med or health
sciences and play DII or
NAIA Lacrosse.
What is your proudest
moment in athletics?
Playing in the Brine National
Classic in 2017
Are there any
embarrassing
moments you had in
sports?
For bowling, one time
at a meet as I swung my
arm back to roll the ball it
slipped out of my hand and
hit the ground. It happens
more then you think, but
it makes a loud noise and
everyone looks at you.
Do you have a
favorite pregame
pump-up song?
“We Will Rock You” by
Queen.
Do you have a hero,
or someone you look
up to?
Probably my dad [Ron],
because he is a firefighter,
and when I injured my
knee he jumped from the
stands to run onto the field.
Is there something
people don’t know
about you?
I’m double-jointed, so
I can bend just the tips of
my fingers and bring my
thumb to my wrist.
Is there a TV show
that you could binge
watch over and over?
“Criminal Minds.” I
love the suspense, even
though I’m not really into
horror movies, but the
studies of people and their
minds interests me.

Any superstitions?
No, not really. My second
lucky number is actually
13.
If they made a movie
about your life, who
should play you?
Jennifer Lawrence, because
she is quirky and
funny — kind of like me
What would that
movie be called?
“Cut It Like Jade.” It’s
like “Bend It Like Beckham”
for two-fold reasoning
— lacrosse and an
ACL repair.

scouts’ eyes a little wider
in late February and early
March, during the NFL
Combine in Indianapolis.
At the time, some scouting
reports said that he did
not have NFL wide receiver
speed and might be
better suited as a tight end.
Those comments were
made moot at the combine,
when his 4.42-second time
in the 40-yard dash made
some jaws drop. That time,
combined with his impressive
vertical leap of 43 1/2
inches (the second-highest
jump in NFL Combine history)

Norris raved that Boykin
is “such a fluid mover for
his size. Has real potential
to win in both the big and
small receiver game. That
is not common.”
Boykin, who attended
Central Middle School in
Tinley Park and was a part
of the Tinley Park Bulldogs’
baseball and softball
programs, as well as the
Orland-based Jayhawks
and Magic basketball
teams growing up, nabbed
a team-high 59 passes for
872 yards for the Fighting
Irish last season.
