<strong>Harry</strong> <strong>van</strong> <strong>Wijk</strong> (1971) had his first music lessons from his<br />
mother. L<strong>at</strong>er he went to a music educ<strong>at</strong>ion school and had<br />
lessons from Bert Koelewijn. He studied <strong>at</strong> the conserv<strong>at</strong>orium<br />
<strong>with</strong> Kees <strong>van</strong> Houten and Theo Jellema. After this, he had<br />
lessons in Belgium <strong>with</strong> Joris Verdin, in Germany <strong>with</strong><br />
Wolfgang Zerer and Ludger Lohman, and in Holland <strong>with</strong> Leo<br />
<strong>van</strong> Doeselaar. The last years of his study he specialized in the<br />
French and German music from 1850 – 1950. He won several<br />
prizes <strong>at</strong> competitions in Holland and Germany.<br />
From 2017 he has been working as a church musician <strong>at</strong> Oude<br />
Helenakerk in Aalten. Before then he held a position <strong>at</strong> De<br />
Kandelaar (Candlestick church) in Amersfoort and recorded a<br />
CD there, partly <strong>with</strong> music of his own. It is liturgical music<br />
for organ, choir, brass and percussion. He plays the organ <strong>at</strong><br />
recitals and choir concerts. He is director of several choirs,<br />
and is involved <strong>with</strong> the music educ<strong>at</strong>ion in Paramaribo<br />
(Suriname).
