2018 <strong>Suffolk</strong><br />

Queen<br />

Katherine Parsley is the daughter of Karen<br />

and Mike Parsley of Sheridan, Indiana.<br />

Katherine resides on her family's diversified<br />

farm which includes <strong>Suffolk</strong> sheep, cattle and<br />

crops. She's actively involved with 4-H,<br />

National Honor Society, varsity soccer, student<br />

council and Pursuit church youth group.<br />

<strong>Suffolk</strong> sheep have been in her family since<br />

1948—Katherine continues to keep up that<br />

family tradition and has exhibited sheep for<br />

nine years at the county, state and national levels.<br />

After graduation this spring she plans to<br />

attend the University of Kentucky and major in<br />

Animal Science.<br />

National <strong>Suffolk</strong> Ambassador & <strong>Suffolk</strong> Queen Contest<br />

APPLICATION DEADLINE: JUNE 1<br />

The primary responsibilities of the National <strong>Suffolk</strong> Ambassador and/or National <strong>Suffolk</strong> Queen would be to represent the<br />

breed at Shows and Sales. The contest will be held at the National Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Show each year. Applicants will be interviewed by<br />

a committee of three. The winner will serve a one-year term from the current National Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Show to the next National<br />

Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Show.<br />

The United <strong>Suffolk</strong> Sheep Association has set aside $1,000 to assist in the financing of expenses for the winners. Winners are<br />

required to turn in receipts for the $1,000. Please contact the USSA Office at 641-684-5291 or info@suffolks.org with any questions<br />

you may have regarding these contests.<br />

Qualifications: The National <strong>Suffolk</strong> Ambassador contest is open to males or females between the ages of 16 and 21, must be<br />

a member and in good standing with the United Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Sheep Association.<br />

with the United Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Sheep Association<br />

Applicants should be willing to attend: National Junior <strong>Suffolk</strong> Show, Midwest Stud Ram Sale, and North American International<br />

Livestock Expositions Junior & Open <strong>Suffolk</strong> Shows.<br />

Deadline & Submission Instructions: This application along with a 1000 word essay is due to the USSA by June 1.<br />
