Superintendent News
By Dr. Joseph Beeson
Dear Parents:
Mother’s Day has come and gone. I was overjoyed to see the response at our Mother’s Tea in Kindergarten this
past week. I pray our homes will always reflect the biblical example of Christ and His church. God’s Word does not
suggest, but commands that our homes be a reflection of this relationship. May God give each of us the ability to
follow that command - “...husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her,” (Eph.
5:25)...”Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (Eph. 5:21). We can only do this by “being filled with
the Spirit.” (Eph. 5:18). I pray our homes at Lake Center Christian School would be a light to our community, just
as I pray our students will be.
Blessings,
Dr. Joseph Beeson
Preschool - 6 th Grade Information
By Mrs. Stock
Dear Families,
My heart was blessed this week as we had the opportunity to host the Sanyuka Children’s Choir. As our students
joined them in song, I saw a picture of heaven. Beautiful!
Our fourth through sixth grade students had the privilege of running a 6k on Friday. Their participation was a true
demonstration of what it means to serve others - being the Hands and Feet of Jesus.
A few reminders;
• Please check newsletters for information on field days and end of year celebrations.
• If your child ran the World Vision Global 6k, and you would like to sponsor the child on your bib please bring
the bib into your teacher with your child’s name on the back.
• Thank you for blessing the teachers and staff this week with your many gifts and words of encouragement.
International Teachers/Students
Lake Center Christian School has had a long tradition of welcoming international students and teachers to our campus
to enrich our culture and impact their lives. We are in need of Host Families again for 2019-2020 for two international
teachers and students (please see page 11 for more information). If you are interested in learning more about this program
and being a host family, please contact Sheryl Roberts at sroberts@lccs.com or Kim Beavers at kbeavers@lccs.
com or call during school hours for more information.
Right now we have the potential of an international male teacher from China who will be working in Junior High.
Please pray that his visa is granted.
Yuqian “Chris” LIN (China)
Age: 22, male Education: BA English (graduated in July 2018) Language(s): English rated 19.5/20, fluent in Chinese
Yuqian enjoys playing piano, reading and playing table tennis. At church he is involved in small group, is a reader during
the services and previously was a leader for the youth. Yuqian is currently working at an English school as a teaching
assistant (students aged 4-16) and has been there since August 2018. His role is to help the foreign teachers, translate,
discipline, and talk with parents. As part of his schooling, he also took pedagogy classes, qualifying him for a teacher’s
Page 5

license, specifically in English, and he did a school practicum in primary school for his university credits. Yuqian’s
references describe him as kind, has experience working with foreigners, creative, enthusiastic but also serious, dependable,
honest, consistent and resilient.
We also have an application for a female international teacher from Zambia who will be working through her visa
process.
Nsofwa KASEKETI (Zambia)
Age: 22 (F) Education: Secondary Teaching Diploma (English and Civics) (graduating July 2018) Language(s):
English rated 19.5/20, fluent in English and Bemba.
Nsofwa loves people. She has a great support group at home. She loves to be surrounded with people and family.
She is very social and makes friends by initiating conversation and asking their names. She likes to make people
feel comfortable. She describes herself as a cheerful, happy person. Some of her interests are: poetry, photography,
volleyball, dancing, cooking, and singing.
Nsofwa has a three-year diploma in education and would one day like to be a lecturer at a college/university. She
worked as an Internet Access Assistant at Gersale Internet Café helping people with projects and assignments. She
has volunteer experience at church, cleaning and preparing the grounds for people that come on Sunday. Currently
she is volunteering for a program with a poetry organization to spread the word and sell tickets to poetry shows. She
is very passionate about poetry, but not a poet herself. Nsofwa also worked on a community film project reaching out
to young adults who want to be involved in a movie. She was there to make sure actors were present, to ensure they
remembered their lines, and that props were always rearranged correctly. Nsofwa is the leader of the dance praise
worship team at her church. She loves dancing and worshiping God that way. Since she has education in teaching,
she would be interested in teaching jobs in the US. She would also be interested in working in a shop.
We also have potential for international students again next year. If you are interested in this opportunity, please also
contact us.
VARSITY SOFTBALL:
The Lady Tigers had a very busy week that saw them play 6 total games! The Lady Tigers opened up the
week with a tournament victory over Open Door Christian, 18-6. Kaydri Sommers and Kennedy Haubert both
homered in the game to lead the team to victory. The team then went on to drop the next two games to Elms
and Hillsdale. However, they bounced back on Thursday against Kenmore-Garfield, by defeating them, 12-1.
Kennedy Haubert again led the offensive attack with a single, double and RBI. The Tigers took on Rittman
and Kenmore-Garfield again to finish out the week. They couldn’t overcome Rittman, but were able to pick
up another win against Kemore-Garfield, 15-10. Macy Kline earned the win on the mound and also singled
twice, doubled and drove in 3 runs.
