Superintendent News
By Dr. Joseph Beeson
Patience, Long-suffering, and Perseverance - words that have marked my days these past weeks. Patience with
circumstances that have been beyond my control. Long-suffering when disagreements cause “rifts” in valuable
relationships. Perseverance to know we have an important ministry to accomplish in the lives of our students. Thank
you for your prayers as we worked to do His will this year. Our desire is excellence in what we do, for those areas
in which we failed to do so, we are striving to do better. For those areas where we succeeded, God gets the glory.
Thank you again for your faithful prayers, support, and partnership.
Blessings,
Dr. Joseph Beeson
By Mrs. Stock
Dear Families,
What a blessing this year has been! The learning, the laughter, the growth of young hearts and minds. I am thankful
for each student, family, alumni, faculty, and staff member that calls Lake Center Christian School their home. I am
grateful for the new families that will be joining us in the fall and for the privilege of proclaiming the name of Christ
in all that we do and say. I pray for a relaxing summer filled with lasting memories. Enjoy the time away. We look
forward to seeing you for the upcoming school year!
Reminders
• Celebrations this year are being done by grade level. This is being done in an effort to provide a more intimate
setting where students and families can reflect on the learning that has happened, the memories that have been
shared, and the uniqueness of each child in a special way.
• Please look at newsletters regarding field days, end of year celebrations and trips.
• Please check the lost and found for missing items as they will be donated at the end of the week.
• May 31 st is an early dismissal day.
Have a blessed summer!
Volunteer Opportunities this Summer: The Hartville Thrift Shoppe has some great summer opportunities for
high-school and college-age volunteers. The Hartville Thrift Shoppe is an independent non-profit organization,
governed by a Board of Directors from local area churches. We are a part of a network of thrift shops who support
the mission of the Mennonite Central Committee. https://mcc.org/. Our donors divert items from landfills by
donating them to our store. Our volunteers receive, process, and present these donations for sale enabling us to
offer quality items at an affordable price to our customers. Our well-managed, efficient operation staffed largely by
volunteers, allows expenses to be minimized which enables us to donate more to MCC where the store’s donations
are used to support relief, development, and peace around the world.
International Teachers/Students
Lake Center Christian School has had a long tradition of welcoming international students and teachers to our
campus to enrich our culture and impact their lives. We are in need of Host Families again for 2019-2020 for two
international teachers. If you are interested in learning more about this program and being a host family, please
contact Kim Beavers at kbeavers@lccs.com or call during school hours for more information.
Right now we have the potential of an international male teacher from China who will be working in Junior High.
Please pray that his visa is granted.
Yuqian “Chris” LIN (China)
Age: 22, male Education: BA English (graduated in July 2018) Language(s): English rated 19.5/20, fluent in Chinese
Yuqian enjoys playing piano, reading, and playing table tennis. At church he is involved in small group, is a reader
during the services, and previously was a leader for the youth. Yuqian is currently working at an English school as
a teaching assistant (students aged 4-16) and has been there since August 2018. His role is to help the foreign teachers,
translate, discipline, and talk with parents. As part of his schooling he also took pedagogy classes, qualifying
him for a teacher’s license, specifically in English, and he did a school practicum in primary school for his university
credits. Yuqian’s references describe him as kind, has experience working with foreigners, creative, enthusiastic but
also serious, dependable, honest, consistent and resilient.
We also have an application for a female international teacher from Zambia who will be working through her visa
process.
Nsofwa KASEKETI (Zambia)
Age: 22 (F) Education: Secondary Teaching Diploma (English and Civics) (graduating July 2018) Language(s):
English rated 19.5/20, fluent in English and Bemba.
Nsofwa loves people. She has a great support group at home. She loves to be surrounded with people and family.
She is very social and makes friends by initiating conversation and asking their names. She likes to make people
feel comfortable. She describes herself as a cheerful, happy person. Some of her interests are: poetry, photography,
volleyball, dancing, cooking, and singing.
Nsofwa has a three-year diploma in education and would one day like to be a lecturer at a college/university. She
worked as an Internet Access Assistant at Gersale Internet Café helping people with projects and assignments. She
has volunteer experience at church, cleaning, and preparing the grounds for people that come on Sunday. Currently
she is volunteering for a program with a poetry organization to spread the word and sell tickets to poetry shows. She
is very passionate about poetry, but not a poet herself. Nsofwa also worked on a community film project reaching out
to young adults who want to be involved in a movie. She was there to make sure actors were present, to ensure they
remembered their lines, and that props were always rearranged correctly. Nsofwa is the leader of the dance praise
worship team at her church. She loves dancing and worshiping God that way. Since she has education in teaching,
she would be interested in teaching jobs in the US. She would also be interested in working in a shop.
We also have potential for international students again next year. If you are interested in this opportunity, please
contact Stacey Bailey at staceyebailey@icloud.com. (Please see page 7 for more information).
LAKE CENTER CHRISTIAN ATHLETICS
LCCS Varsity Athletics Weekly Review (Week of May 20 th ):
2019 HIGH SCHOOL SPRING SPORTS BANQUET:
High School Spring Sports Banquet is scheduled for Thursday, May 30 th , in the Cafenasium, 6:00 PM
VARSITY BASEBALL:
The Tigers took on Dalton in the OHSAA District Semifinal and defeated the Bulldogs, 7-4, to
advance to their 4 th District Championship appearance in Program history. Will Caudle pitched
a gem by going the whole game, only allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 11. Ben Price
and Thomas Fulk led the offensive attack for the Tigers with multiple hits apiece. Unfortunately,
the team fell short against a very talented Hillsdale team by losing 10-0 in the District
Championship. Hillsdale was the top seed in the district and was ranked 4th in the OHSBCA
state poll at the time. Matt Starcher, Kobe Byler, Jackson Tucker and Ben Price all collected
hits in the game, the team just wasn’t able to string enough together to get any runs across
the board. The Tigers finished the season 16-11, OHSAA Sectional Champions and OHSAA
District Runner-ups.
Week Results: Dalton Bulldogs (OHSAA District Semifinal) (W, 7-4), Hillsdale Falcons
(OHSAA District Final) (L, 0-10)
