John Mason is a freelance musician in<br />

the greater Los Angeles area. John records<br />

for Motion Pictures, Television and<br />

records: some of his most recent work<br />

has been: John Williams: Star Wars EpisodeVIII,<br />

Star Trek Discovery, Geostorm<br />

and various Marvel Movie and Television<br />

projects, and the Black Eyed Peas most<br />

recent album. John also performs with the<br />

Santa Barbara Opera, Santa Barbara Symphony,<br />

Long Beach Symphony, San Diego<br />

Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic<br />

and is Principal Horn of the Los Angeles<br />

Jewish Symphony.<br />

Celebrating 90 years of service<br />

in Santa Barbara County<br />

In <strong>19</strong>47, Mrs. Lillian Child deeded her estate, Vegemar, to the<br />

Santa Barbara Foundation. It was her firm belief that the property<br />

should belong to the people of Santa Barbara. The Santa Barbara<br />

Foundation presented the deed for the Child Estate to the city of<br />

Santa Barbara in <strong>19</strong>53. Ten years later the estate opened to the<br />

public as the Santa Barbara Zoological Gardens.<br />

Trey Farrell, oboist, is an active<br />

freelancer with a network spanning from<br />

the Bay Area to Southern California. He<br />

received his BA Degree from Pennsylvania<br />

State University and his MM Degree from<br />

the Thornton School of Music at the<br />

University of Southern California. Currently<br />

Adjunct Instructor of Oboe at Westmont<br />

College and he is on staff at the Idyllwild<br />

Summer Arts Academy. In addition, Trey<br />

teaches instrumental music at Roosevelt<br />

Elementary School and maintains a private<br />

oboe studio in Santa Barbara.<br />
