We needed an event that would prove the worth of the Suzuiki<br />
V-Strom 650XT. We found it in the Kielder 500. In all some 1100<br />
miles in four days on road and track in rain and shine. Easy….<br />

Time is the enemy these days. It runs by<br />
way too fast; we have too much to do<br />
in too little time. And so it unravels our<br />
best laid plans. So it is with the Suzuki<br />
V-Strom 650XT long termer. Plan was<br />
for it to ride the adventure class at the Rallye du<br />
Maroc, but then the class got cancelled, and with it<br />
being the end of the 2018 season there was precious<br />
little else to point it at before the year rounded out.<br />
Fortunately Suzuki hasn’t pressed for its return. So<br />
as the new year thawed, or nearly thawed, we at last<br />
found a challenge worthy of its capabilities.<br />
The Kielder 500, at the end of March, was the<br />
first of a trio of competitions that come under the<br />
banner of The Adventure Spec Challenge as run<br />
by Rally Moto UK. The 2019 series brings three<br />
weekends of rally road book competition to the<br />
UK adventure bike fraternity. No light enduro<br />
bikes are allowed, this is about true adventure<br />
bikes riding for two days in the wilder parts of the<br />
UK. Kielder was the first, up there on the Scottish<br />
borders, next comes the Wales 500 and the IoM w<br />
