<strong>COBIS</strong> Professional Development<br />

<strong>COBIS</strong> offers a wide range of professional development<br />

opportunities for teachers, TAs, middle leaders, senior leaders,<br />

and school support staff. The 2018/19 <strong>COBIS</strong> CPD calendar<br />

included courses and conferences in the Cayman Islands, Hong<br />

Kong, Italy, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Malawi, Malaysia, Nigeria,<br />

Oman, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Spain, UAE, Ukraine, and the UK.<br />

<strong>Conference</strong>s included a Pastoral Care <strong>Conference</strong>, hosted by<br />

The British School of Bucharest; an EYFS <strong>Conference</strong>, hosted by<br />

Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong; an Innovation in<br />

Education <strong>Conference</strong>, hosted by Dubai College; a conference for<br />

PAs and School Secretaries, hosted by St George’s International<br />

School, Luxembourg; a <strong>Conference</strong> for Marketing, Development<br />

and Admissions Staff, hosted by Haileybury Astana; and the<br />

<strong>COBIS</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> for Bursars, Business Managers and HR Staff in<br />

London. <strong>COBIS</strong> would like to thank all of the schools that host and<br />

attend <strong>COBIS</strong> CPD events.<br />

<strong>COBIS</strong> <strong>Programme</strong> for Middle Leaders (CPML)<br />

More than 140 middle leaders took part in the <strong>COBIS</strong> <strong>Programme</strong> for Middle Leaders in 2018/19, with cohorts based in Blantyre, Bucharest,<br />

the Cayman Islands, Dubai, Kiev, Lagos, Madrid, Marbella, Muscat, Riyadh and Rome. This is a one-year programme for ambitious middle<br />

leaders who wish to develop their personal and professional skills and who are committed to improving the experience of students within<br />

their schools. Through a blended learning approach, with face-to-face workshops, self-directed learning, and a leadership challenge<br />

project, the course gives participants the chance to develop their own leadership and make a significant, tangible impact in their schools.<br />

Booking is now open for 2019/20 CPML cohorts in Blantyre, Bucharest, Cancun, the Cayman Islands, Frankfurt, Kiev, Lagos, Madrid and<br />

<strong>COBIS</strong> <strong>Programme</strong> for Aspiring Heads (CPAH)<br />

The <strong>COBIS</strong> <strong>Programme</strong> for Aspiring Heads (CPAH) was launched in 2017, building on the success of the CPML model. The CPAH is a<br />

professional development programme for aspiring heads and senior leaders at an early stage of their career who are interested in<br />

developing their practice. The course runs over a period of eight to ten months, combining face-to-face sessions with a choice of in-school<br />

projects and optional school placements. Areas of focus include educational philosophy and vision; governance and governors; target<br />

setting and models of intentional change; strategy and context; and more. For 2019/20, the CPAH will run in Kuala Lumpur, Muscat and<br />

<strong>COBIS</strong> Training for Designated Safeguarding Leads<br />

<strong>COBIS</strong> is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. Face-to-face training for Designated<br />

Safeguarding Leads has already taken place this academic year in Bucharest, Kuala Lumpur and Muscat, and will also run in London,<br />

Panama and New York. Further regional DSL training days are planned for 2019/20.<br />

Online Safeguarding Training<br />

In addition to face-to-face safeguarding training, <strong>COBIS</strong> works with EduCare to provide high-quality online safeguarding and duty of<br />

care training to British Schools around the world. Many of the EduCare courses have been updated specifically to meet the needs of<br />

international schools including ‘Child Protection for International Schools’ and ‘Safer Recruitment for International Schools’. <strong>COBIS</strong> Members<br />

Webinars<br />

By the end of this academic year, more than 3,500 colleagues will have registered for <strong>COBIS</strong> webinars. <strong>COBIS</strong> webinars are a free resource<br />

for schools, and allow more members of the <strong>COBIS</strong> community to take advantage of CPD opportunities. Topics this year have included<br />

safeguarding, coaching in schools, GDPR, technology, curriculum resources, and much more.<br />
