A worker at Ace Hardware, located in the 1900 block of Cherry Lane, reported at 6:18 p.m. on May 24 that a male subject left the store without paying for a chainsaw. According to police, the value of the chainsaw is $400. In other police news: May 30 • Irving J. Rodriguez, 19, of Waukegan, was charged with improper parking, failure to wear a seat belt and driving with a suspended license at 1:55 a.m. near the intersection of Dundee and Bach. May 28 •A complainant in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 3:01 p.m. that unknown subject(s) entered their unlocked parked vehicle and took various personal items. May 27 • Unknown subject(s) damaged a window on a vehicle parked in the 2300 block of Illinois Road during the overnight hours. May 25 • Joel Pilar Mendoza, 49, of Chicago, was charged with driving while license revoked, improper lane usage and improper turn at 1:12 a.m. near the intersection of Shermer and Lee roads. May 24 • A complainant in the 300 block of Melvin reported at 2:25 p.m. that they received two checks from a customer, which had been returned as having nonsufficient funds. • A complainant in the 1300 block of Meadow reported at 10:16 a.m. that a check, which was sent via the U.S. Postal Service had not been received by the intended receiver. The complainant checked their account and it showed that the check was cashed by an unknown subject. • A complainant in the 2100 block of Scotch Pine reported at 12:34 p.m. that they received a telephone call from someone claiming to be an officer in Washington, D.C. The complainant recognized it was a scam.
