In 1992, I founded <strong>the</strong> Powerhouse Ministries,<br />

a non-profit organization serving people<br />

struggling with addiction, abuse and poverty.<br />

I am an active member of <strong>the</strong> Twin Lakes<br />

Ministerial Association and serve on <strong>the</strong><br />

Executive Advisory Team for Serve <strong>Partnership</strong><br />

Unlimited (Division of Youth for Christ) and <strong>the</strong><br />

Juvenile Delinquency Prevention Board.<br />

What is <strong>the</strong> most important advice you have<br />

ever received and from whom?<br />

The best advice I ever received was from my<br />

dad. He said, “If something is worth doing<br />

at all, it’s worth doing well.” If seeing people<br />

overcome addiction, abuse and poverty is<br />

worth doing, <strong>the</strong>n it is worth doing well!<br />

I have worked in <strong>the</strong> non-profit industry for<br />

more than 15 years. I have served as executive<br />

director at Twin Lakes Food Bank since 2018.<br />

I spent six years on pastoral staff at Lakeside<br />

Church where I developed and implemented<br />

adult discipleship programs and cultivated<br />

people’s best assets in order to serve and enrich<br />

<strong>the</strong> lives of those in need.<br />

I am a retired legal assistant who has worked<br />

as a volunteer in homeless related projects<br />

most of my life. I represented Oak Hills<br />

Church on <strong>Folsom</strong> Police Dept.’s <strong>Folsom</strong><br />

Faith and Homeless Initiative in 2017, during<br />

which we formed HART of <strong>Folsom</strong>. We offer<br />

mentoring, a transition house, and on-going<br />

support, to make sure <strong>Folsom</strong> is a kind and<br />

caring place to live for everyone.<br />

What is <strong>the</strong> most important advice you have<br />

ever received and from whom?<br />

“Search for <strong>the</strong> Lord and His strength;<br />

I have 28 years of experience in community colleges. I have been a full-time faculty<br />

member in Communication Studies at West Valley College and served as Director of<br />

Instructional Outreach at Arapahoe Community College in Littleton CO, and as Dean of<br />

Instruction at <strong>Folsom</strong> Lake College (FLC).<br />
