Example of Favorite Teacher or Coach, Band Director, Administrator, ETC.
Mrs. Gilbert Futrell was my favorite teacher. I had her in the Seventh grade at Webb Junior
High and passed because my main job was killing the wasp that came into the room. They
would wake me up and with a rolled paper I would destroy any wasp that attempted to disrupt
my sleep. As a Senior I had her in Social Studies. I remember well her sharing that if you
put one piece of popcorn in you mouth at a time and continue chewing you will never have a
mouth full of popcorn. It true I try it all the time.
Mrs. Futrell grabbed me as we were in line to graduate and shook me saying that I had scared
her by missing the final. She said she ran downstairs and found out I did not need the credit.
See she cared about me.
Joe Morris Scholarship
is being set up by the
Mayfield Community
Foundation. All of any
contribution goes into
the Scholarship.
KIWANIS
We are encouraging classes, individuals to set up scholarships for MHS
students. All proceeds can be placed with the Mayfield Community
Foundation and you can be assured that 100% of the money will go to
those chosen for the scholarship.
A scholarship can be given in more than one persons name or more than
one teachers name. My hope is that a teacher like Miss Tossie Thorpe that
taught at MHS beginning in 1921 through 1963 can have a scholarship in
her name.
