The host city for the event has been well chosen: Gothenburg, the country’s second largest city, is a genuine music city where music is close to people’s hearts. It has a lively alternative music culture and big arena stages. Culture and the arts take center stage in Gothenburg. Singers from all over the world are invited to join, compete and celebrate a grand festival of choral music in Sweden at the Grand Prix of Nations Gothenburg 2019 & 4th European Choir Games.

EUROVISION CHOIR <strong>2019</strong><br />

A brand new international TV competition was<br />

launched on July 22, 2017 and is inspired by the<br />

Eurovision Song Contest and the World Choir<br />

Games – celebrating choral singing and bringing<br />

together the most popular singing competition<br />

in Europe and the largest international choir<br />

competition in the world.<br />

EUROVISION CHOIR showcases choral singing<br />

as the most natural way to make music together<br />

and show what is possible when combining little<br />

more than human voices. Top-class amateur<br />

choirs present their outstanding singing skills to<br />

a Europe-wide audience.<br />

Eurovision Choir of the Year 2017 featured<br />

Europe’s best amateur choirs who traveled to<br />

Riga and competed for the title Eurovision Choir<br />

of the Year. Carmen Manet from Slovenia won the<br />

inaugural competition.<br />

The second edition of Eurovision Choir takes<br />

place on Saturday, August 3, <strong>2019</strong> at the Partille<br />

Arena in <strong>Gothenburg</strong>, Sweden. 10 of Europe’s<br />

best amateur choirs will try to impress a panel<br />

of international choral music stars by performing<br />

an unaccompanied selection of music in a variety<br />

of styles.<br />

The show will be hosted by the BBC‘s Petroc<br />

Trelawny and SVT‘s Ella Petterson and adjudicated<br />

by Sweden’s Katarina Henryson, a founding<br />

member of pioneering a cappella ensemble The<br />

Real Group, British composer and conductor<br />

John Rutter and US producer and arranger Deke<br />

Sharon.<br />

The winning choir of Eurovision Choir <strong>2019</strong> will<br />

not only get a trophy and the title „Eurovision<br />

Choir <strong>2019</strong>“. INTERKULTUR will also offer an<br />

all-inclusive trip to the World Choir Games 2020,<br />

taking place from July 5-15, 2020 in Flanders,<br />

Belgium.
