Block Play Areas
When children have a dedicated block play area they have the
opportunity to engage in collaborative, constructive play that is
interdisplinary in terms of developing skills in both the sciences and
the arts, and draws upon a shared narrative relative to a child or group
of children. Children need an unending supply of materials, and our
two and three-tiered open shelving allows for quick loading and
unloading of unit blocks, hollow blocks, arches and tunnels and other
materials that support this critical domain. Labeling the block play
shelves builds shape recognition, vocabulary, and other cognitive skills
while also keeping the block play area organized and consistent.
