Time to hit the road and take a few photos while you’re at it
Wilmette
Our miniature
long-haired
dachshund
is 16, and
recently
retired from
a long career
doing pet
therapy at a nursing home. He sleeps most of
the day but still thinks he is a very big watch dog
when we have visitors! He is craving a visit to
Dairy Queen — his favorite treat!
To see your pet as Pet of the Week, send information to
eric@wilmettebeacon.com or 60 Revere Drive, Suite 888,
Northbrook, IL 60062.
While we all love Chicagoland
and the North
Shore, getting away for a
little bit on a summer vacation
often gives us the
perfect opportunity to recharge
our batteries and
appreciate the area even
more when we return
home.
Some North Shore families
may have hit the road
at the beginning of the
summer, right after school
got out for the kids. Others
may have made vacation
plans for the next
few weeks before classes
resume. Either way, we’re
betting some wonderful
photos will come out of
your vacations.
Whether you shoot family
photographs with an
old-school camera or use
your smartphone to capture
all the special moments,
memories are made
with each click. The best
summer vacations are the
ones we remember for the
rest of our lives and photos
help tell the story.
As the end of summer
nears, The Wilmette Beacon
is hosting the seventh
annual Family Vacation
Photo Contest. As with
other contests we run, we
expect some great entries
from our readers.
Send in a photo from your
family vacation this summer
2019 for a chance to
get it published in the paper
and win a prize from a local
business. We’re looking for
entries from Wilmette and
Kenilworth residents.
can say, we are a musical
family,” Eileen Richards
said. “When we learned
about the new singing portion,
we were all in on giving
it a try.”
Along with the impressive
vocals of the Richard
family, other performances
made for a perfect festival.
Acts like the Frog Lady
gave little ones something
to ooo and ahh over, while
a family Yoga class by Yogaview,
allowed all to get
their Namaste on. SNAP
dance studio performed a
few numbers and the Music
Institute of Chicago,
Rock House Music School
and North Shore Music
also performed. Jazz Artist,
The Shara Maxwell Trio,
wrapped the weekend with
a professional concert, ending
the annual Summerfest
on a good note.
