Will Call table beginning at 4 PM on the day of the event in the Box Office<br />
lobby. Doors open at 6 PM. Each bout has two 30 minute periods with<br />
breaks in between. All home bouts are double headers. Get there early to<br />
ensure the best seating! Houston Roller Derby is a family-friendly event.<br />

77373. Admission: $25. I’ll Be Single Before I Settle is a stageplay about<br />
four college friends who rekindle an old college bet to see who can find<br />
true love first. Unexpectedly, a traumatic event occurs forcing the friends<br />
to walk in their truth. This play brings awareness to domestic violence.<br />
33 rd Annual AIA Sandcastle Competition - <strong>August</strong> 24, <strong>2019</strong>, 10<br />
AM-5 PM, East Beach, 1923 Boddeker Drive, Galveston, TX 77550. Free<br />
admission, $15 Parking. The AIA SandCastle Competition is a fundraising<br />
event for AIA Houston and ArCH Foundation as well as one of the<br />
top five revenue generating events for the City of Galveston. This year<br />
over 60 teams have their eyes and shovels set on winning the prestigious<br />
Golden Bucket Award. Firms begin months in advance generating ideas,<br />
developing designs and assigning duties. On the day of the event the<br />
teams, stretched along the beachfront, meticulously sculpt their piles<br />
of sand and work non-stop for five hours. The judging of the sculptures<br />
is rated on originality of concept, artistic execution, technical difficulty,<br />
carving technique and utilization of the site.<br />

Shooting the Moon: Photographs from the Museum’s Collection 50<br />
Years after Apollo 11 - Daily through September 2, <strong>2019</strong>, Museum Of<br />
Fine Arts, 1001 Bissonnet Street, Houston, TX 77005. In celebration of<br />
the 50 th anniversary of the Apollo II moon landing on July 20, 1969, the<br />
MFAH presents Shooting the Moon, an installation of approximately 40<br />
moon-related photographs drawn from the Museum’s collection. Works<br />
on view range from NASA images of the mission itself to fine art classics.<br />
This 45-minute tour explores the exhibition and encourages visitors to<br />
discuss the art together.<br />

Washington On The Brazos State Historic Site, 23400 Park Road 12,<br />

dressed in period clothing bring to life the people and events of Old<br />

Comedy Night at HPL - Monthly on the 3 rd Thursday, 6-8 PM. Houston<br />
Public Library, 500 Mckinney Avenue, Houston, TX 77002. Admission<br />
is free. The Houston Public Library offers “Open Mic” comedy night<br />
where local and non local comedians, comediennes, ventriloquists and<br />
impressionists of ALL ages present family comedy to the audience. Improv<br />
Performers from Station Theater closes out the night with games that<br />
involve the audience. Everyone who participates in at least one open mic<br />
throughout the year become eligible to participate in the Annual Comedy<br />
competition which is held in December. Prizes in the amounts of $100<br />
and $75 gift cards are given to the 4 winners. Two adult and two youth.<br />
