The event, slated for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, is geared toward the ones who struggle with the daily question of ‘What’s for dinner?’ Kelli Svancarek, programming coordinator for the library, said it is a perfect time to have this event because school is right around the corner. With the busy schedules students are about to have, having a plan for the week will be beneficial for everyone. “We have had a lot of requests for anything we could do for cooking demonstrations and classes,” she said. “Especially with school starting and having to make meals for active kids and families, it’s nice to get started early and prepare for the school year.” The class will be taught by professional speaker and organizer Beth Randall. She has worked on a number of projects with people, helping them become more organized in any facet of their life. She came highly recommended in a library programmers group that Svancarek is in. If people want to learn more about Randall, they can visit her website at bethrandall.org. Randall will talk about different options or choices for menus that are meant to make life easier for people. They will highlight freezer meals, slow cooker and Instant Pot options as well as quick and healthy menu item ideas in creating lunches school children. “If you can figure out what day you will prep your week’s food and get in that habit, you’re set for the whole week,” Svancarek said. Over 48 people have already signed up for the class with not many seats remaining. The Century 21 Realtors have their own entity Homes for Guardians where the give rebates on home sales to local veterans, teachers, union members and others. They also sponsor many of those people in the area in different aspects of their lives. As an added bonus, Jessica dressed up as Elsa from the movie “Frozen,” and took pictures with some of the children who came in for their ice cream. Two of those children were 7-year-old twins Bree and Ava Newman, of Manhattan. The twins smiled as they talked with Elsa, before they sat down to enjoy their “Unicorn” ice cream. It was the perfect day for people to get out of the high heat for a little while and cool off.
